Stihl MS 271 (carburetor) help

Here is one of mine. M5 is the thread/bolt size, not the diameter of the wrench.......
The nut is a #9216 261 0700,the same nut that is on the ms170 through ms270, ms361,ms362, ms650, ms660, and dozens more.....

right, M5 machine threads, the usual 8mm nut, and grind away an 8mm socket. got it. check. 10-4. thanks, y'allseses.

5/16 inch, same size. Get a $2 5/16" nut driver at the hardware store, and thin it down...

here is the manual. just read it will help you in the repair. also shows you how to do a pressure and vac test. also could have a bad tank vent that is in the manual also. along with carb adjusting, just a process of elimination

As soon as I learned my 5/16" sockets were fat, I did exactly what you suggested. It's now just another tool, that cost me 2 bucks. Thanks for your wisdom!
