I have no idea what this might be. It appears that it could live in the "red light" district. What the heck? Crank rod says 1122. clutch says 1128 and so on. any ideas

I believe your friend was taking saws and mix matching parts to make anything they could out of them to keep working, some parts are shared across platforms or can be swapped
066, take the clutch to know for sure,
clutch is stamped 1128/00
044, 046 clutch
Find the pt#s on the case halves.
Looks like a 064 RE
Don't you have to split the case to find those numbers? That's for people smarter and braver than I
No, lower, inside of each half
0700 and 2900 would be 064
Muff looks like 066 but would have come with a dual port as a RE, I believe.

Put up pic of oil pump.
No ,David. Take the clutch off so we can see the oil pump, the 066 has an integral oil delivery port to the bar pad , the 064 has a separate oil hose to supply oil to the bar pad, very easy way to identify between the two models that way.

064 or 066 very early model, Tough ass saws. Use it all day you won't feel your hands for a week.
That definitely is an 066, the oil pump tells the 064 apart from the 066. You have most of an 066 red light on your hands.

The red light was a tuning feature, it indicated max WOT RPM no load.
I have a '92 066 re...was my main saw for decades. Mine has the larger air box and dual port muffler...why I was thinking yours is a 64
