I saw that AM today earlier, will know more in the daylight. Suspense is killing me right now. This is truly CAD at the level of not knowing but knowin something isn't right but yet being so close to it like a kid in a candy store but yet you still can't have it.

I really doubt the shop would mis-diagnose it but you never know. It shows on the tag estimate to repair broken crank, not sure if customer diagnosed or shop. Saw looks complete and the carb and such is in place. I'm going to toss and turn tonight for tomorrow wondering what it is in there. It doesn't sound good when pulled over.

When I flipped the saw over the clutch side looked square to the case and appeared in place with the clutch cover on it.

I bought a mint ms290 off the bay about a year ago. Buy-it-now $100... free shipping. Said it was locked up, possible broke crank.
I had a bunch of 290 parts to fix it then plans to relist it. When I got it, I tore it down and found that the crank bearings were the problem. The spacer thing around the individual ball bearings to keep them seperated... broke apart and lodged between the pan and the crank weights locking up the works.
I put a used set of bearings back in, tested for leaks, then cut a few cookies with it. I re-listed it the next day and it sold for over $350. :msp_thumbsup:

Maybe you'll get lucky and have something similar. Although bearings on a pro saw are more time consuming to change.

I like the ones I got off the bay that said low compression,Check it out to find the plug loose. LOL Tighten the plug and fires right up ! Checked the compression,2 were 150 one was 170. LOL Cleaned them up and sold them.
2 of them had some shop tag on them. Not sure how they check compression at that shop? But I keep an eye on there ebay store! LOL
My last great deal from there was a 064 that turned into a 066 I bought! Plus how cheap it went, even if it had been a 064.
Once in a while you get a great deal

I love locked up saws. I got a nice 064 recently that was locked solid and cheap. When I pulled the recoil cover I noticed one of the mount screws was missing. I found it wedged between the coil and flywheel! That was an easy fix!
Struggle, I am guessing yo have a collapsed bearing. I had an 034 with that problem recently. Easy fix.

You my dear friend don't have CAD bad enough yet... When this same situation arose last winter I set up a break down/inspection table in the far side of the basement from our bedroom... LOL!!! I had a ms310 broke down, inspected and ordered that night so they'd be shipped out the next morning... That and my neighbors have been known to "hear a rev-ing engine any where from 8pm-3am... Gotta test them once ur done right???:confused2::confused2:

My family lives in all the houses around me... I love ripping the cord on one in the am. Lol.

Hey... We work on saws for the reward at the end right? If I wanted to just work, I'd go grab the honey do list....:)

I wouldn't call it an absolute steal I gave $95 for it...........but it has a darn near new 25" Stihl ES bar (no chain)

No go on looking at it tonight wifey is fast asleep and I don't want to disturb her rattling around in the garage:msp_scared: Will do pictures as always.

Just let the dog out and went and pulled the starter rope over softly and you can here metal on metal squeaking. I have low expectations and know with me using the bar I will still be ok money wise on it in parts.

Pretty good 036 thread here that may come in handy for you. BTW, I did finally finish up the two I tossed into the thread mix with one ending up really strong and the other still having a minor issue. Great saws.

I have an unlimited supply of limited coils (free for shipping costs). They are limited at 14.1K which is high enough for a 350 with a MM.

I would be intrested in at least one ( two if you could spare them). They are for a 351 and a 372.
Just make sure hrhunter gets one...and whom ever else chimes in needing one.
Thanks
jim

the only thing i run the black coils on are my toys and thats just becouse they turn so many rpms. a work saw dont need to turn any more than 14,100.its a work saw and it should be in real wood making in the wood rpms and not free load rpms.

Cheap Poulan scraps. Let me know what you need. Prefer getting rid of entire saws, but will entertain all inquires.
