oly 252 and oly 254

i've got a project Olympyk 252 and an Olympyk 254. looking for some parts -

252 - coil, points, air filter, air filter cover, AV top handle.

254 - electronic ignition module, air filter, air filter cover, clutch/sprocket cover, carb heat shield/manifold, AV top handle.

thinking about trashing the AV handles on both saws and going with the hard mount handles.

I have a 252 that I'm checking the coil out for another guy, I will give the P&C a lookover and compression test if it will fit your saw. It is a 44mm bore vs the 46mm on your Super, but it'll get ya up and running maybe, at 4ccs less. Shoot me a PM if you want me to check into it deeper.

EDIT: Looking on Acre's site, the 254 and 254F share the 46mm bore that your Super has, might be a better match for you if you can find one.
steve,
thanks for the 252. was delivered on the 22nd. unfortunately i was out of town and didn't get to play with it until this last weekend. it cleans up nicely. sadly, since its a coil/point system the cylinder doesn't have the mounts for the electronic ignition on the 251Super. No problem though since i can't bring myself to part it out. i mean, after all, it just needs a few parts - right?

Want to trade this Stihil 36" 084 for a nice 046/MS460.
I have two 084's and never use this one.

Can't help you with 252, or 254 parts Jerry but you wouldn't happen to have the chain tension screw and adjuster for a 481 would you? I can't find one in good shape for the life of me....

Ive decided to try and get my Homelite 1020xp goin. I need a gas tank, top handle bar and p/c or at least rings for now. Im sure other hommie parts would fit this. I have plenty of parts/saws to trade I listed a few pages back and also an Olympk parts saw. I thought it was a 980 but the stroke is too short.

looking at my IPL it looks like it might match that for the 200 series saws; is that correct? if so, i might have an extra. i'll look and let you know.

as rare as olys are we should consider starting an oly group for help in parts location.

Yup, it looks like the same screw Jerry. I found one on eBay a while back, but it was bent to $hit and had been cross-threaded a BUNCH. And yes, I agree on the Olympic group. My 481 run's like a top and I have another one on the way too!

i've got one that was bent a little and was missing the fiber clamp. i straightened the screw and made a clamp out of a washer. the pin appears to be in good shape though. haven't put it on a saw but seems to work. also saw a pin at:

Chainsawr Olympic Olympyk 251 Chainsaw Bar Adjusting Pin # 50-00097 NEW

also, looks like the adjuster for the EFCO 181 may work. look at part no. 14, page 5 on this link

http://www.efcopower.com/allegati/181.pdf

whichever way you wanna go. let me know.

trading post???

i was looking for the trading post is it gone or am i just getting more blind?????

You're not blind. I went through the same thing. After 'the change' the TP is no longer down in the index. There's now a "classifieds" tab up top, just below the "Arboristsite.com" banner. Click that. The index that comes up is a bit different too. Click "saws and parts" for happiness...

---I'm now in need of a good useable (or NOS) piston and cylinder for a Homelite Super E-Z. Pulled the muffler on the pretty S E-Z I recieved recently, and the piston's badly scored. Lotsa muddy crap in the exhaust ports and muffler can. The jug may be OK, but I'm not putting money on it...

--Also pulled the muffler on my nice looking little Wards branded Remington SL-9. Piston and cylinder are roached. Anybody have a useable set laying around.....maybe on a parts saw? I'd really like to get this little sucker going...

--Looking for a few McCulloch application "low profile" Tillotson HL carbs. Going to be replacing a few flatbacks on some Macs soon. I'd trade a couple complete but troublesome flatbacks (one with a working primer from my 550, one Super-250 'choke type') for Mac-application lowpro HL's if anybody wants the "correct" carbs for their Mac saws...

Not much $$$ available at the moment. Got a few bits of saw parts and such to trade, but not much either. Got a little Frontier/Skil 30-ish cc top handle that I could trade for parts. Needs a carb kit at the least. Maybe some other stuff. XL12/SXL parts, C-Series parts, and some other bits. I do have an NOS Tillotson HS carb for an XL98 demo saw (that'd also work on an XL900 series saw) that I may be persuaded to trade for parts.

That reminds me...I've gotta go out in the shop and dig out that O&R 129/Sears gear drive basket case and shoot some pics for somebody here that's interested in it for a trade...

i would like to get in line on the O&R.

I'll let you know if the fellow I'm talking with passes on it. I need to get back to him with pics and wait for him to send pics back of what he's offering in trade. May be a few days.

It's a white Sears labled O&R that looks to be a model 129. Has "Sears" cast into the side cover where "Orline" would be on a 129. The chassis is disassembled. The flywheel cover is broken (recoil section of it was broken out by a prior owner who installed a model airplane starter cone using the flyhweel nut!). I may or may not still have the rope, pully, and recoil spring. Can't remember if I tossed it when I got the saw-in-a-box 25 or so years ago.

With the exception of the flywheel cover, the engine is assembled and complete with carb, AF can, muffler, and gearbox. None of those subassemblies have ever been apart to my knowledge. The carb probably needs a diaphragm. There's a guy on another forum who sells diaphragms for these for less than $10. He also had a flywheel cover last time I communicated with him. I think the saw was ran once or twice, then set on the shelf with gas in it...

The ignition works well. The engine feels like it has great compression. I doubt the saw had much use at all. The sprocket has almost no wear. I believe I have all the screws and such. May be missing the inner throttle cable. I'll have to check for that. The bar and chain are in excelent shape. Little dark grey Oregon (still has the stencil or decal) with the same coating as my '60s vintage NOS Homelite C-Series Oregon 'Lectronic hardnose on my C5.

Goods to trade

Here's some interesting stuff to trade;

Pair of Partner 5000+ one complete power head (missing falling spike) had funky gas in it fired right up on prime tested 190 psi compression after running on prime a few times, fuel system is most likely gummed up. The other 5000+ is missing the clutch cover and recoil, scored piston with 90 psi compression, good coil, bottom end feels good. Nether of these are busted up but do have some sun fade on the plastic both dated 1984 on the tag.

Partner 500 complete power head scored piston with 60 psi compression, bottom feels tight good coil.

Oh yeah just to be clear, based on some offers received, I not going to trade these for a new chain, not trying to get rich here and happy to give a good deal (others on here know I'm more then fair) or a good trade but, these are 5000's not Wild Things, I know the difference :)

Also I did not notice any breaks in the 500 handle but I do a close inspection tomorrow.

Poulan Pro 475 block includes everything on the flywheel side with good coil, recoil etc. also the muffler and clutch / hub are there. Showed some light scoring on the exhaust side but tested 160 psi compression. Will put up a photo of this tomorrow.

Let me know what you've got to trade or:

Need a OEM piston and ring for a Husky 246 also could use new crank seals and a .325 .058 66 drive link chain.
