I am in Australia this week, over in VIC for a few days then to QLD on Thursday, out in the country for a day or two then back to Gold Coast for Friday night and through the 22nd attending a conference. Looks like I might have a down day on Saturday and just wondered if any one was near by.

I don't really need anything to do, just thought if anyone is around I might say hello.

Mark

So Mark where are you going to be on Saturday ?.

Andrew

In reality he probably stole it off a crippled kid :D

I'm just friends with the slackest dealer in Adelaide :)
Here's another example, I grabbed this BG 85 blower, the customer was told it's not worth repairing.... it had a blocked screen :D

I just have to find a coil for it, the dealer sold it before I grabbed it.

Don't take this personally Wayne but you continue to suck.

Lots...

They're a good blower too mate, I have one and NO you can't have the coil. I don't wanna see you sneaking in and pinching my coil either.

Every bloody time you flap your gums you've been handed another 10 saws :D You'll need another shed soon mate.

Now go make me a coffee...

Thats what i wanted to see, i wish those boys would come down closer so we could watch them in person. Would they beat the more modern big saws.
Is there any more vids on the old stihls.

ok guys, wasnt me in the pic, I took it. My work mate running the CRAPPY 08-s oh and its a bloody hire saw! We just rang up and put it on the hire account, asking for a saw. I knew it would be a Stihl but figured it would be a 026 or 038 or something.....when I saw this POS I asked if Noah had dropped it off. Great fun changing chains to.....NOT! Yes it is molten slag from a Oxy/Acet cutter behind my mate....nothing like working together right haha. We were removing all the old steel, posts and crappy bearers to install new HDG structral steel for clear span openings. Building should have been levelled, but in local councils wisdom it stays :bang::bang::bang:

hahah, serg did that old stihl have a chain brake, just wondering cause i've forgotton if they did or did not

Well there you go, I didn't think the 08S ran a chain brake, just a front guard.

One of the cockies here has one, his deity only knows why he still uses it.
He told me once that his father bought it new in the early seventies, and because it doesn't have a chain brake he won't let any of his boys run it, only the newer saw.

Serg, I just checked on Mike Acres site and the 08 came out in '63 (50cc), and the 08S in '65 (48cc prior to '69, 56cc after)
He lists an 08SE too (electronic ignition and a whopping 60cc) but I think the introduction date is a typo ('63) It also says chain brake optional for the SE, so they must have continued them up to near the eighties ??
All at around 8.5kg.

How on earth is it still doing the rounds as a hire saw ? :dizzy:
