Hey, that would be me on the left, thanks for posting the vid up, you should of come up and said hello.

Had a good day, won the 77cc speed and the disk stack, 4th in the open post rip, cut out in 100cc, open and hotsaw speeds tho, just driver error, saws are running well at the moment

On sunday we raced at Boonah where Wayne Donovan won the Qld Open post rip title. I won the under 77cc speed, 3rd in the under 77c post rip and second in the disk stack and seized the motor in the disk stack right at the end of the race, shame to, it was 372 that won all the under 77cc races at crow and boonah and two National titles the weekend before at Kingaroy. Time to rebuild I think. traveled over 700kms for the 2 days and some great racing at both show, billets where tops and speed blocks where even across all races

Hey Serge where were ya? surf must be still up eh?

cheers
Will

You don't have time to "like" my post Neil. Back to it old son. Chop chop...

Oh by the way, have you had a look at that .058" Carlton full chisel yet mate? Also can you or Will use any 17" Husky mount 3/8" .050" GB Pro Top bars in your comps? I can get you the chain to suit too.

Willing to use anything, got a loop of carelton on one say and some windsor on another, 17" is an odd size but would work in the under 77cc speeds with no worry

PM me your address mate. It's 67-68DL with a 7 pin rim so yeah very odd. Do you like RSC, LGX, or Carlton LM?

For you free but for a Stihl user it'd be $250 + GST...

What are the angles on a square filed chain...? They seem quite different to a regular chain. I might try and file one sometime :glasses-nerdy:

Rudi, you throw away everything you've already learnt about filing a chain, it'll only hinder you.

It's usually best if someone shows you first, you attack the chain in a totally different way to round filing and you have to so aware that you don't end up with a top or side beak.

I swear they look heaps better in real life than in photo's too :D (But I reckon a photo is a damned good way to see if it does look ok, and I use a binocular magnifier when filing it)

I couldn't wait and had a go at it before Neil could show me, but I didn't get it finished in time for that particular training day so ran an aggressive round filed chain instead.

Thanks Rick, I'll do some googling and see what I can dig up.

There's a great thread here in the filing forum, I'll try and dig it up.

Andy/Redprospector even had some vids in it.

Shame he and his SIL 'Romeo' don't post on here anymore.

Oregon have basic filing instructions for race chain too.

Don't know what's up with Weatherzone.com.au's forecasting lately.

For the last few weeks their overnight minimum's have been so far out it's crazy.

Tonight's for here is 4*C and slight chance of frost.
It was 0.7* 1/2 an hour ago outside, so what chances of a frost in the morning fella's ?

We have a minimum of 3*C here tonight and I don't even have a proper wood stove :frown: ...I thought Queensland was supposed to be warm?

Rudi, here's one thread and it has some vids in it of Andy touching up a chain.

http://www.arboristsite.com/chain-sharpening/112680.htm

and this is the thread I remember, although it's dealing primarily with race chain.

Cheers Rick!

Chilly here too gents. Also the data here is collected from the Renmark Airport, one of the warmer areas around. In lower areas we can expect 2-3°C colder than this.
-2°C for 4 hours or -4°C for 2 hours will cause major damage in our citrus that has just started to be harvested :(

Renmark weather forecast, Bureau of Meteorology Warnings & rainfall

This is what -11°C does to citrus (for interest's sake). This occurred in late May 2006 and was the worst we'd ever seen in our region. All the fruit was ruined and effected fruit becomes extremely bitter and unpalatable soon after being frost damaged.

Damage the same morning...

This is damage about 3 weeks after the event...

And about 14 weeks after the event. These trees still haven't fully recovered 6 years later...

Basically every piece of wood <6mm was killed.

Just to make it relevant to chainsaws this guys runs a 200T for fruit tree pruning. He has copped 3 lots of stitches from it. One lot in his thigh, one bad graze down his left forearm (extremely lucky as all tendons were exposed but not damaged), and one lot of stitches in his foot (he kicked the saw on the shed floor of a night with thongs on!).
He is the most accident prone guy I know, acknowledged also by his parents and wife...

Mark, Ill be working. Is there anything you are looking to do? are you staying here or just pasing through. And no, I dont own any mac's haha .....only Huksies ......21oos mostly

I am in Australia this week, over in VIC for a few days then to QLD on Thursday, out in the country for a day or two then back to Gold Coast for Friday night and through the 22nd attending a conference. Looks like I might have a down day on Saturday and just wondered if any one was near by.

I don't really need anything to do, just thought if anyone is around I might say hello.

Mark

Thanks Rick, I'll do some googling and see what I can dig up.

rudi,,, pm your email and i will send you a guide with pics which is what we used as a guide way back in the 80's, old litriture for sure but is still exactly the same princible i use today in the race ring. it also has a explain section on why and how.

Nice, that is the same wood heater as i have.
So how is the 441C going ?.
It's great, we're loving it. Could have done with that 28" bar on the base of that tree though. I think once the 25" wears out that will be the way to go. I ran it with a 20" on the w/e with a brand new chain.... woah :msp_mellow:

I'm starting to think we really don't need another one, but we'll see how we go. We have enough wood blocked already to last half the season, so the next few efforts will be splitting and getting it out.

I think you missed a bit mate. There is a 5mm gap top right I think you can utilise :)
I can't believe I missed that! I'll be more careful next time! Haha..........It's done 14 hours for me like that before, with more solid wood. Averages about 10 hours, before bed and before I leave in the morning. And runs hot for a few hours in the evening. Best heating around.
