How far away from gaining jurisdiction is Sharia law in Great Britain? I mean, beyond the myriad Sharia councils acting, quite legally, in an arbitration capacity?
Here's but one example of where the margin creep between arbitration/mediation and binding 'judgements' starts to conflict, quite seriously, with the established legal principles that underpin the societies of host nations. This is the report from a British House of Lords member, titled "A Parallel World: Confronting the Abuse of Many Muslim Women in Britain Today":

When people, even if clumsy and not without an ounce of ignorance or agendas of their own, are shouted down as intolerant, labelled racist, bigoted, etc, for openly calling into question the actions of those purporting to be acting under a particular belief system, as if these systems are beyond questioning and the risks to our way of life are not worth addressing, then I will continue to call that as I see it. That is to say I call it a limp-wristed, excessively liberal Trojan horse that is passively engaging (by not actively discouraging) in the destruction of societal values in host nations disrespecting the many generations therein who fought hard and/or sacrificed their own lives to uphold such values.
Do I lament blind bigotry? Yes. Do I believe all people of any belief system uncommon in host societies are evil-doers? Of course not. Do I believe we have not done enough to shield our societies from the harmful aspects of other belief systems, or address the failings of our own systems? Absolutely.
