I don't dissagree with this at all, I would not recommend most professional saws in general to the average user.

To be honest I cry whenever I see an average user with a pro saw. Because they fuc*ing wreck it...

Benny knows my pain as he has to supply all the parts :)

Sounds like we heading 4 a GTG " Build off" lol!!

In my limited experience with ported (modified) saws is;
The average user is wasting his money!
Most landowners , firewood guys in my area are "average" at best with a file!
Users like that would do better learning how to use a $3 file, rather than spending $$$$$ on a port job that they think will dramatically increase their productivity.
A ported saw 4 these guys will only create rapid chain stretch, and bigger shoulders on the bar rails twice as fast!
Now I have learnt some filing techniques from some of the best operators this country has 2 offer (lumberjackau,ausneil), yet it's obvious to me that, a correctly filed chain, on a stock saw,
Will provide more productivity, than a poorly filed chain on a ported saw hands down!:yes:

Congrats postrip, one of the best posts on AS !

I pulled the original motor and put in a 383, I was going to get a 434 small block but I drive it way to much. It's only around 400hp but it's reliable and doesn't guzzle to much. I wanted a hq Monaro but they're to expensive and wouldn't have the heart to change stuff on it. Only thing left is a diff but they want 5500-6k cause it's coil springs and has the ears on top of the diff for rear control arms which isn't really an off the shelf item. But I ain't throwing that much on a diff.

If you need North American parts, I know people who know people.

Cheers bud but my local mechanics got contacts he helped bring in new bumper bars complete interior etc a mosier diff in the States is 3k the plus shipping etc I am back to square 1. Plus I prefer to use local guys but yeah bit pricey. Thinking I should have done it before I got married cause the commissioner won't be to happy seeing more money thrown at it lol

You ****ed that chain, it was new and you ground half the tooth off.

I guess that's why I put my ported saw up for sale on here as I would rather sell it to a guy who is passionate and a bit of an enthusiast rather than selling it to some git on EBAY ;)

385? Who would own such a POS? Lol
