The local firewood retailer is selling "redgum" delivered. Last winter they had lovely river redgum..........had a look at it today.....mostly box and some what appears to be forest redgum.

Sly dog....

so after knocking up that coffee table for myself im having thoughts of maybe doing a couple more to sell, but any ideas where i could get some slabs or logs cheaply? looking for 5-700 wide and 1.2-1.8 long happy enough to mill the logs myself either freehand them or might look at building a basic csm

No snownami yet? Looks like the brass could be soft, it should work harden with use, if you can get it to hold a projectile tight enough to use again.

Have a chat to your local tree service guys, they usually have logs coming out of their ears. Slabs should also be available from your local "lucas" sawmill guys but they tend to charge quite a few $$ for a good slab.

another 026 to the collection. Ran it for a bit to run the bugs out of it and was running good but didn't have the compression of my other one so did a full pull down and cleaned up and after a few new bits and rings she's up and running again. Was put onto a neat trick for thin base gasket. Using printed shiny junk mail catalogues :) used a nos gasket I already had as a template cut it out and all good. Hopefully after a bit of run in it'll be up with my other one. And disregards matts up coming comments on it being a QCT model

Did you use a genuine Stihl catalogue Benny or just an El cheapo after market catalogue?

I'm guessing Bunnings catalogues won't work on a Stihl but might on an Oz Racing saw.

Does the adjuster fit on any bar or do you have to get another from stihl(you)
And that is a nice 026

Busy afternoon milling with thanks to bobL
This is some tuart that was pruned around the corner and I got them to leave 6 bits for me, this is just test runs to get the chain right before hitting the big log.
The Chain is a big work in process trying to the races angle to >6.5° for that log and it started a A3EP gradually becoming a ripping chain
These short bits had a branch out the side just off TDC as the last pic, I cut with it there hoping to minimise the cracking that was already in the log

They are not like a 2100 are they Matty 2, what a beast ''they were and still are'' for those lucky enough to actually own one.
sometimes I might tune and test a stihl racer for one of the guys in the arena, yea I have to think sometimes, even with choke removed the trigger action still needs to move.

Never have a problem with any of my 2100,s as none of the stop switches work at all or sometimes they decide to work mid cut and just turn off. The little husky 350 I have switches on every time the choke it pulled

Have you got a HD2 on that saw?
No it had the old kind of filter its an 066 the rubber sealing lip was all broken away on that saw.. We have a few 66's of all kinds- new/ old /squashed/broken/dirty/ clean/part saws....
Looking at getting two 661 I've had time on one and yeah nice saw I like.. Just not sure how they will hold up to abuse just yet, the old 66's take plenty of abuse and come back for more! haha....
