3/8th drill bit in the cordless

Good stuff, simple easy and helps the saw, listen to Jason on the tuning, its dead right.
You can over do it tho, biggest is not always best, a lot of toys have been mucked up by over indulgence with the cutting tools like dremils ect.
Same goes for hack porting, that job should not be undertaken by a hack unless under supervision by a former hack who has learned the hard way.:)

edit,,,, if that makes any sense, if not carry on regardless.

Bar oil from a few pages back at circa $2.5L

The fresh food people huh. Hope you use the self serve checkout and get the self serve discounts....everything looks like potato's and carrots to me anyway...

Spoke to my steal dealer today and told him I'd decided to use motor oil for bar oil and save a dollar....he said that's all he's ever used personally...does a great job he reckons.

Anyone got some measurements on a tried and tested port job for an 029 Super?

I may as well go the whole hog while I've got the drill out....no fancy ignition stuff though....only got a 2 day wait on my new bolts and want to put it back to work this week.

motor oil or light gearbox oil is all iv ever used and iv never cooked a chain yet

Delicious irony in using such an environmentally friendly spray booth to paint a modded 2-stroke muffler. Love it. With any luck, it'll be an old can of paint that still uses CFCs, and coal-powered rechargeable drill.
tough crowd
most spray booths iv seen over here dont have air filtering systems on them unless there in the city

Well, I've done all I can to this saw, for the time being. List below.

Removed carby, cleaned inlet port with some wet and dry, port looked really good anyway. Port matched gasket, re-assembled.
Cleaned exhaust port with wet and dry, looked good anyway. Top of piston was showing no signs of carbonising. Port matched gasket and muffler. Bypassed baffle in muffler and opened up the exhaust to match port opening. Waiting on new bolts and nuts to reassemble. Drilled 3/8th hole in heat shield.....will see how well she idles and may open up the heat shield a tad more if it is idling fine below about 2900....need a tacho. ..
Next step would be to increase compression and open up the ports more but not sure the gains would be that great......I was surprised how good the ports looked on this saw.

Will retune once I get it back together again.....

Have triple ported the muffler on the 461. Left the baffle in it as it's not restrictive by the looks of it. Wound the high speed screw out on the carb and I'm out of adjustment and it may be a tad lean but I can't check cause I can't find where rough rich is.....and I don't have a tacho so have to do it the old way....it's idling nicely though.

Now, what do we do to these limiters to get them out and trim them or something? I have no idea as I haven't dealt with limiters on carbs before.1439276411550.jpg

Stihl 024AV to replace the Sh*tbox 136

Needs a bit more work and some parts but is good so far with a bit of a clean up and a muffler job.

Not bad for $120.00
That's pretty damn good for $120.00
My inherited 026 tuned a lot better once I dremeled out the muffler cover on each of the 4 holes
