$17k for 4x remote-release chokers. First time in years I've been in a position of throwing money at a 'want', but can't bring myself to spend that much moola. Might have to hope I can survive with 2 rather than 4 of 'em.

Remote winch is going on a boat soon. New tractor a few weeks away.

Still have to build the portable tower for the winch. Got a few ideas.

Looking to make my own firewood bucket for the tractor. Who died and made steel the new gold? So, getting lateral:

2m of that would be bloody heavy though. Could gas holes in it so lighter and debris falls out. May not be deep enough though. Could use some of it as the start of a firewood tumbler project and the rest for a culvert across a stream on the block. Probably cost too much to get it home though. Thought of extending a stone bucket but they are not cheap to buy for starters.
What tractor did you decide to get? Pics? That firewood bucket project looks interesting too, keep us posted on that one! [emoji2]

Kioti RX7620. Slow hydro pump and a short ass like me can't see over the hood enough to see the tip of FEL implements very well, but for the $ and warranty it's about the best long-term 'tweener tractor I could find. Small enough to get into most places my lil tractor could go, but big enough to handle larger implements/loads. Won't replace a loader and I won't be trying to load 1.4m Saligna logs into the mill but it will get large enough loads of firewood into the high-sided bulk trucks.

Then head down for about two years to try and save $ for next assets in the long-term wood-hack bankruptcy plan.

Will get pics/video once the whole show is set-up and in use. Tractor+remote controlled winch (with tower)+remote chokers (if they will sell me just 2 instead of 4). Been thinking about this for a wee while. Scary spending the bucks to see if works as good as it does in my head.

Nice, that sounds like it'll do the trick.

$2100 for single side farm gate remote solar powered bigger pannel 5 key fobs all installed it seems pricey compared to ebay stuff kits circa $700 any one gone down this road

Ive been looking into building my own from salvaged bits and pieces....still havent found a suitable motor to drive a pivot arm type arrangement.....i am hoping to find a fisher and Paykel washing machine motor but will need to buy a 240v inverter charge controller for the battery.....these arent cheap.

Not going to remote it just a push button on the fence.....the merlin setup isnt too exy for remote setup...available at Bunnings

With the addition of a few gears and some mounting brackets a set up like this would suffice for say a 12' farm gate.
It's 12 volt and remote.

its taken me 10 years to get wife to agree to a auto gate,,, " yes go figure" but anyhoo i cant afford to do derwoodii dyi build & quotes got a few features ,,,program able key pad bigger solar panel securer locking bolt 5 fobs etc that the ebay kits dont have and has warranty so while pricey im prolly going this way to protect my nuts from any system failure kicking.

Not sure about the starter motor, I'm thinking the motor would need to be reversible for the gate to open and close?
The black box is the receiver/ relay.

Check this one out, ebay item #391185068086. (Can't get the link to post!)
Has a range of 100 mtr and is less than $40-.

A starter motor will run in reverse won't it? I would have thought.the controller just swaps the polarity to the motor and bingo...

The pinion gear is useless though, you'd need to jamb it in the engaged post.

soxed a few trees at club as the mound mantle getting a upsize and i get to drive a 30ton excavator friday to pile up earth under due care and instruction

How heavy's your gate?.....Maybe one of those el'cheapo 4x4 winch motors?......12 volt and reversible.o_O

My gates steal framed clad in Cyprus pine....1.8 H x 3.0 W hinged to a solid brick pillar. I'm probably better off just running power to it but don't want to dig up the oracles garden
