The Carlton chain getting around at the momment has changed slightly, the box the 100 foot roll comes in is differant and the made in USA is gorne.
The one on the right is the new stuff and if you look close the top of the drive link is a differant shape and rivets are black.

I think they made some in Brazil at one point, it was no good.

Anyone know anyone selling 8-tooth 3/8 picco rims (0000 642 1241 ?) please? Can find 7 tooth (0000 642 1240) but wouldn't mind seeing if my MS241 will stand up on an 8-tooth 18" picco set-up.

gotta go, Coro St is on.
8's are not available in oz/nz. They supersede to 7's. Only way would be to get some .404 8z's and grind them down. This has been done with 7z .404's to picco 3/8 before. There is a thread about it for blokes using standard/large spline runs on 660's with picco for milling/logosol mills

Everything keeps going up
How many price rises has Stihl had this year and i think there is another next month.
I must say that the Stihl chain in RM is better than Carlton but is two to three times the price got to say no some where.
Its funny i have been floggy wood for 12 years and the price never goes up but everything to do with cutting wood has ?.

Redgum has gone from $250-$330/tonne in the last few years around here. Can get $250 for mixed gum (whatever I have, mostly stringy bark).
The guys with Redgum just keep upping their price, and whatever random crap I get rid of just stays a bit below. But I only sell in winter when people are desperate.

I've had 4 or 5 calls this week. Had to turn a few down....I'm getting $125/cu mtr but they're properly measured.....delivered within 20 km. ..mixed loads of course.....as soon as they say we only want Redgum I say no problem, that'll be $200/mtr.....box burns better I reckon.

I think i may come over and do wood with you at that price.
Redgum goes for about $150 per mtr and Sugargum around $120 per mtr around here.
Yep Box is the best burning if you can find it.

I've got around 40% box 40% stringy and 20% Redgum. ...a few guys selling it my way just load it rough and their 4 cu mtr loads are closer to my 3cu mtr loads...Redgum is selling for around $190/mtr delivered in the inner Melbourne suburbs....

I'm won't short change anyone when it comes to getting a proper mtr but from what I'm hearing from people is most people selling it by the cube are short changing em.

very nice but one step ahead of ya.
got out today with my 22-250, just got it back from the smith with a pacnor match grade barrel.
Trying nosler match burner projies, lookout fox's.

Nice
I hope your not puttin bullets in that tree for some poor old wood cutter to stuff his chains on.

I'm looking at buying a roll of chain, just out of interest how much does a roll of that size roughly cost? Does it work out cheaper than going to a dealer and getting chains made up?

A 100 foot roll works out be be about 30 cents per drive link.
You get about 22 loops of 20'' out of a roll.
$21.60 per 20'' loop
Plus the cost of the breaker and spinner.

I sell by volume 1 cubic mtr is 6 foot by 6 foot by 1 foot deep stacked.
Weight depends on the wood eg
1 mt of Redgum is about 600 kg
1 mt Sugergum is about 800 kg
This depends on moisture content supposed to be 20% moisture max

Wow chain prices have gone up, I remember getting Carlton for under 20 cents a drive link only a few years ago.
