The possible problem with the water immersion could be the amount of silt that gathers on the log and in the small crevices during stream flow plus the dirt during the
depositing/extraction.

Must play hell with the chain.

Also, my mates got a crane truck......ive got 3 lengths of 8ft by 10 to 14" stringy i dropped out the back a couple of days ago...nice and straight....great for th3 fence posts i need to replace...i cant debark this stuff as its been in a bush fire and even at 8ft long i was about to put it on my shoulder to carry it but at over 100kg each i could feel something may be at risk of breaking so stuff moving em around like that....

My new fence posts will now have bark on them

yes but on that sight it says m³ * 35.315 cubic feet and 6x6x1 is 27 :dizzy:

well bugger it any wonder i sacked 12 odd customers as they were winging pricks and with what i was giving them i told them to **** off :guitar:

6"Wx 6"Dx1" high is 36 sq foot, which is just a tad over a cu.mtr, if stacked tight.....tell em to stick it...lol

Edit...feet that is, not inches

no probs i had a brain fart

i was just out spraying my new 1200 yard gong and had the can 180* out of wack and

sprayed me hand and finger haha she'll be right i'll just pop more beta blockers and

get lost in me own back yard :dumb:

Great thank you, I think I need to invest in a loop considering I pay $40-$50 per 20" loop

See mcw/Look on eBay for the packages of breaker, spinner And 100ft Carlton. Also try calling the shop directly if you are near by and skip sellers fees
Write off the cost of the spinner<$100 in your first roll of chain the rest is gravy (mine are $13@84dl) :) $150@25ft delivered and $300-400+post@100ft eBay price for genuine chain

Busy day today...... Put an early 066 magnum back together, washed the T904 kenworth, tidied my work bench/shed,started a new speed chain for the big 090, downed a 6pack whilst in the process:)
I spent the day in the shed with a few beers as well putting a reco'd pump and injectors in the 80 series.

Everything keeps going up
How many price rises has Stihl had this year and i think there is another next month.
I must say that the Stihl chain in RM is better than Carlton but is two to three times the price got to say no some where.
Its funny i have been floggy wood for 12 years and the price never goes up but everything to do with cutting wood has ?.
It went up September 1st. We haven't changed our price as its getting stupid. With the others going up atleast it will even up the playing field a bit

Thanks Bennie. Never knew there was a mini-spline .404 rim option. Sounds like a plan to grind/turn 'em down. Is it 39.5mm diameter for 3/8LP? I don't have a lathe but could probably red-neck it with grinder or belt sander and drill press somehow. Or just take a few into someone who has the gear and knows how to use it, and spec it to a certain diameter.

If there is no mini spline option, then is there a small spline drum that would fit the 241, assuming there is a small spline 8z .404 rim?

What about an 8-tooth spur drum?

Are many CS millers turning down .404 rims to run picco? If so, is it the liability issue that halted the 8z option - because they are using more HP than the chain can 'legally' take, so Stihl didn't want to be seen as encouraging it, or is there just not enough demand for such a 8z option? Or maybe there is one in small but not mini spline?

If there's enough people wanting such, I'm sure we could get someone like Danzco (or someone closer to oz/nz) to make or turn a batch, no liability expressed or implied.
.404 is only in large spline so no option for small and mini spline. Spur sprockets in 3/8 picco are available for 660's for use on logosol mills. The reason they are machining them down because rims are some much cheaper then buying a spur sprocket every time. Picco rims are only available in mini spline and only Stihl produce them at this stage. Rims need to be ground like a cam because they are made of hardened steel not just peared off in a lathe. That's the problem the bloke had when he tried to do it in a lathe because they're so hard

Hey chippy, posts with bark don't work, put them in ground, bark rots, post sloppy and moves.

Get the bark off..No1 priority.

Thought that might be the case.

couldn't get it of by doing a light rip and then crow barring it so tomahawk will be my next attempt....one of the fat ends is badly charred so not much bark on that so that'll drop straight in
