Hah hah. Love it. It's amazing how the price an individual pays for their goods is directly proportional to how big of a wanker they are :D

yeah my tolerance level is very low this days, ive been taken off my little white pill that keeps me calm and sooner or later one of these customers is gonna get an un lubed length of redgum fair up the ......

i charge 180 a ton for large split or 220 for whinging moaning pains in the :taped: who :taped: me to tears, one buyer was happy to take full rounds and he would split himself so only charged him a 100 for the 5 rounds that made up a ton, needless to say he got the next load split
woods been getting pinched around town one bloke lost five ton out of his yard

Yep like the lovely old lady I did an install for who turned into the granny from hell! She payed accordingly. ;)

Can't say I'm surprised Serg. My mate who was in the SAS for years but a driver in Afghaniland said they got anywhere with stock setups on their Landies. Those guys with large tyres are usually compensating for a lack of driving skill. Like Al, he has big tyres...

Only a lack of driving skills? could add a few other things to that list like a lack of penis, lack of BRAINS, and an overwhelming desire to make it near impossible for those who simply want to traverse said tracks to get somewhere! It really pisses me off when I want to go down a track that most 2 wheel drives would be able to drive (if driven correctly) that ####heads with big tyres have deliberately rutted up cause they want to feel big about going backwards and forwards up and down a bit of a slippery hill and stuff it for everyone. And then they wonder why all the tracks get shut down!

Hi Carl.
I was there from 1993 to 1995, just after the dreaded and disastrous (at the time) take over by Adelaide Uni. I enjoyed most of my time there too but certainly wouldn't go through it again - I despised studying with a passion, particularly when you hated 90% of the subjects :) Now I only study subjects I like, such as chainsaws and chopping stuff ;)

Yep. Up to $350 a tonne for split Redgum in the Adelaide Hills too. Can't help but think these guys are bleeding consumers for all they're worth as prices this season are around $100-120 a tonne higher than last year - nearly all the Redgum sold in SA is coming out of NSW on trucks. Despite the "squeeze" wood in Tassie is still half the price due to wood being everywhere. You can also cut any fallen timber in national forest in Tassie - as much as you like.

There are some seriously DODGEY firewood suppliers in our area -

One even advertises that his Redgum is sourced from NSW under "NSW Forestry supervision". Yeah right ya moron...

Another one claims his wood is "precisely 20% moisture to achieve the best burning characteristics". I assume he has one huge mofo humidifier to achieve this? Peanut...

Most of our local guys are trying to turn the age old art of firewood collection into a science when their combined IQ would struggle to crack 3 digits. Their competing advertisements in our local papers are quite hilarious...

Ah well supply and demand I suppose. I'm still sitting on about $180 a tonne or thereabouts (I don't have any scales) but only have about 20 tonne at present split and ready. I might be called an idiot but I'd have trouble sleeping at night charging anything over $200 a tonne. If I was to advertise my wood at $180 a tonne these meatheads would probably do a driveby on my house and torch my woodheap :D

There is one dodgy seller come into our area recently who must want his knee caps smashed! Around here the going rate for local hardwood is around $80-$85 a metre (for good stuff) the rubbish is around $65, this guy has been cutting everyones lunch doing it for $55 a metre for not bad wood but he has peaved a number of guys I know right off. at that price he wouldn't even be breaking even.

I found a solution though and will be shipping mine up the line through another bloke I know ($120 a metre.) Redgum around here is between 150 and 185 a metre, about 550 or 600 kgs

And you are worried about the price of the oil you use in your saw??? man I wish I could charge that!

Yeah it's funny how protective firewood guys get! My mate in Tasmania said that there have been many cases of guys who have decided to sell some wood on the side of the road in their trailer only to have their tyres slashed, lights smashed etc, or be met by a wood selling local holding a big shifting spanner telling them that this is their patch and to pi*s off before they get hurt. There are trailers filled with split hardwood down there everywhere and apparently the RTA linked in with Centrelink a few years back and they found that the trailers were registered to guys on Centrelink benefits yet they were making a fortune from firewood. Our bloody tax dollars were paying for those pr*cks to cut wood.
Unfortunately stuff like your cheap wood guy happens all the time in a lot of industries - truth is they won't be around long if they're making a loss. If they are around for a while and their opposition goes broke then they might be a bit more efficient and business savvy than people give them credit for

Beautiful. There couldn't be a better post to support the theory that those with issues with others are greater than those with said "small penises" Well done!

Crikey Al. Not only are you awesome aerial installer but your cartoonistry is second to none :D Bravo old chap.

Can't be too good an installer. I quoted a job last week, antenna, amp and four points in a commercial building and was beaten by a quote at exactly half my quote from an outsider. If he's legit, he isn't making any profit. Time to sharpen the knifes, lol!

BTW, Chingasaw is running great. 8-9 tanks through it so far. Runs real nice this thing.

We will kneecap him as well as the bloke down here! I hold him you whack him!

He was probably wearing a turban!

Hey I've seen that before with every business in our region. Guys go in thinking that they'll take the world by storm, don't, then cut the guts out of things to get some cashflow going whilst generally going broke in the process. You'll be fine though when you get the daily cartooning gig for the Sydney Morning Herald and The Age.

Chingasaw sounds great :) Did you sort out that tuning issue? Mine is running a treat with that new carby which is actually a GREENLOG like yours. I just struggled to read it properly.

If only he knew what a masculator was!...lol Obviously one of the guys with big tyres!

I know I know pick me pick me!!! It's linked to "The Perry Bible Fellowship" yes? Google is awesome :D

Dont know what "the Perry bible fellowship" is, but, I don't see how a bible fellowship would have anything to do with what a masculator does. although Most religious NUTS appear CASTRATED by their sect!

Cartoons ya reckon, lol?

No I haven't looked at the carb as yet. It idles and runs fine, except when you pull the trigger, just off idle it can stumble a little. Full throttle etc it runs fine. I'm really liking the powerband of this one and considering it's all kit it's really nice to run. A pleasure to run actually. The 371 has the same powerband only a little more. I'm taking it out to Lucky Phil's tomorrow so he can have a run cutting up a felled tree. He's the fella who's been interested in one.

I sharpened a few handsaws tonight, made me realise why I gave it up as a job, but also made me realise That I would put my filing skills up against anyone in this country still!

had one which was in fairly bad nick after I finished it came out great! went from massive cows and calves to micrometer perfect pitch all done by eye! Once a saw filer always a saw filer!
