he will have more saws than his Stihl shop soon :msp_biggrin:

He had more saws than his shop years ago. He just bought an 090G. I told him to just buy a Chinese 070, put an imported 090 top end on it, and bolt an old Datsun 180B gearbox on the side. He called me stupid. I was just trying to save him a few dollars...

yep the Stihl marketing is very good indeed. The dealers have all been to BW camp. I have no problem with Stihl quality in their pro saws, I just havent picked up one I liked weight and feel wise. I really wanted to like the almighty 066/660 but it just seemed heavier and wider than my 288xps that I could not see the point for me. I bought a Dolmar 5100s for a mate and I really like the fit and finish of this saw. I saw one for sale in top nick and was thinking about buying it, but already have a 346xp so figured it would be a bit silly. Id also like to see a solo 656 in the flesh...

Yeah it's a funny one isn't it Serg. I've never picked up a Stihl over 50cc and though it felt nice compared to a Husky. I know I've probably been used to Huskys and Dolmars but I still just can't believe anybody can pick up an MS660 for example and like it over a 390XP based on balance and feel alone.
You can't doubt their toughness and reliability but from a balance point of view when falling they are just a nose heavy brick. My 390XP will stay flat with a 36" bar. My 660's were seriously nose heavy even with a 32" bar and you certainly noticed it when falling.
I love the little 5100-S Dolmars. I still regret selling mine dammit. I might buy it back one day :)

Stupid? no way mate, you just like "thinking outside the box", if people didn't do that we'd still be living in caves

Hey husq2100
I used to do that in the early days, waiting for an e bay item to end.
Now for just $6.00 per year I set my Gixen sniper and go out, to bed whatever and let it do the work.
It has saved me sooo much money and the other silly twits that bid days before, jacking up the price for the seller usually don't know what hit them as it will go off 4 seconds before closing and it sends your bid from 2 different sites in case I site has a slight delay.
GIXEN, google it.
Youir time is valuable
Cheers Wayne

I just did and it looks like it is free now

oops it's the mirror that's $6

Well, that list will come in very handy and I will from now on refer to these quotes as MATT'S LIST.

I believe quotes like
--I think you could do with more training
--i'm certain that isn't feasible.
will be very popular in the future.

I wonder why,,,,,,, perhaps he does not want to be seen with a chinese 70 in his possession. Especialy if that 70 special (or chinese copy) has less performance that his genuine O8S Stihl.

But the Datto 180B,,,, gee he may well just like one of those.

Thanks Matt !

SWMBO is printing that off and tacking it up on the managers notice board at work ;)

I saved the pic but if you have an original scan, email it please :D

Sorry mate but it was taken from a .jpeg file around 110kb. That's as good as I have but it does print off OK.

Pretty sure that bolting the 180B gearbox off the side was fine. He started to gag a bit when I mentioned the Chinese part then he kicked me straight in the balls while screaming at me in German.

He was very close to getting a 7900 :D

But he didn't, did he.

The fumes the Church of Orange and Grey gently blow into your nostrils are mighty powerful hallucinogens, and lets be quite frank here, young Ben has partaken rather heavily over the years, after all, he is a High Priest of the Faith. ;)

In other words he needs cult busting better than just running a 7900, even though that'd convert a lay person..... :D

Simple 064 MM's.

I did this to the saw on our brigade Cat 1 (tanker) and woke her up a bit.
A decent re-tune helped too
