To many of us tree blokes wont wear hard hats enuff so a compromise may keep them some % safer

g'day blokes. Hope you all have beeen beahving yourselves…or not

A couple of q's. Anyone know where to buy a Strider folding knife? Anyone here imported a folder with the new laws? What is the go when buying a firearm from interstate? I have A&B and am looking for my first rifle. Probably .223. Im in Qld, can I buy from interstate? how do I take care of transport?

OLD look for Clevers firearms always given me good service gear postage

Be careful where you buy your gear from in Sydney. I went to Horsey Park Gunshop when I was in NSW last year and bought over a grand worth of components and it was a dumb move. It cost me a sh*tload more than buying exactly the same stuff from the SARA store in Adelaide. Big name doesn't always mean good deals.
Done the same years ago and screwed myself over cause i flew to sydney and was restricted on what and how much i could bring back, ended up waiting a few months for my sister to move up and bring it, HPGS,BGS and a few others have been good to me in the past but i mostly buy from CLEVERS now ,although i did pick up a few botles of 748 From a ma pa shop in kingaroy for a real good price and he was the only one in au that had some at the time worth checking out places when traveling ,specially gun shops ya never know what they may have

We have two shops here and there both owned by the same family and there both hopeless never have powder as no transport company's want to transport it here they recon. I recon its bs. They say they order **** and then don't e t ect general **** service We use whores sly park but more recently useing abelas http://www.abelasgunshop.com.au/ I don't use the shotgun enough to warrant reloading I might use a case of shells a year. I used to get em cheap off a bloke up the road but the local gun shop put the stops on that and he lost his licence

Morning possums,
We have a flashy gun shop here at port Macquarie, it has all the bells and whistles looking from the road side, but just around the next block in the industrial area, in a small side street, we have an older couple who have this little shop with no shop front, and no signage except an old slug gun and a range flag flying when open.
Basically they are in a 40'' container with a little shed between.
This couple have terrific service, know their profession well and can happily do sales much less than the flash shop up the road.
I was told of this shop years ago and it near took years to find the place, only advertising being local word of mouth.
Forget HP at Hornsby, they have a much bigger shop front and a **** load of staff.

Anyone interested, I can find their number.

There's a place just like that in queenbeyan but its very hit and miss when his open. The bloke runs it out of his joinery and started In Frustration with the other shops. But cause he does not have a flashy shop front most distributors won't deal with him. Thers also a good shop in boorowa and braidwood

ok so what roll does twist play in the barrel of the rifle, I see there is more than one option in the 223 range. Does anyone else find the new arborist site format hard on their eyes?

Depending on your twist rate determines what weight projectiles it will shoot better, like 1 in 8 is good for heavy projectile and 1 in 12 suits lighter ones there a other variables that come in to play but thats the rough of it ,1 turn in x inches of barrel,1 in 8 is fast etc,(hope i got that right).:)

first determine what weight pill you want to use if it's 55g and under stay with the 1:12 as the quicker the twist the quicker the throat erosion will be

Twist rate is only part of the equation. The length of the bullet plays a part regardless of the weight and you can also help stabilise longer and heavier bullets in less than ideal twist rates by pushing them faster. Longer and heavier projectiles can also destabilise at longer ranges as the velocity drops. I've had exactly the same projectiles shot from exactly the same twist rates at the same velocities and one will be under stabilised and the other will be fine.
As Darren said the faster the twist rate the faster the barrel wear. When you think that projectiles can crack 200,000rpm you can see why things wear out fast :)
There are very few things on earth that only have a lifespan measured in seconds. Barrels are one of them. Therefore if you value a decent barrel at $1000 and have a 2 second lifespan (typical modern magnum) you are paying $1.8 million an hour to shoot :D

an ss109 at 3100fps out of a 1:7 RPM is 310,000 the styer used to run 1:7 barrels and the f89 minimi but i have no idea what the run now

ok, so what weight do I want to push o_O :ices_rofl: I want to shoot target, not hunt. Im happy with a longer heavy barrel as such. Looking at .222, .223 or similar depending on recomendations. Looks like I will have to budget between $1500 and $2k for the rifle alone to get something of resonable quality???
