Thanks guys l'm not used to these sweedish saws. l am used to stihls. l kinda jumped the fence & thought i'll give a husky a go. lts a dickie little saw & l'm not sure we like each other. l have not run it much at all its had less than a tank through it. l thought it was annoying when the circlip from a stihl would fire off into the unknown but this husky takes it to a new level. l had some coastal wattles to cut up on friday and gave it a run(550xp) every time l sat it down for a minute it would just roll over. Put it on ground turn around and wallah she rolls over. lt spools up pretty good and is fairly smooth to run but its a bit of a wimpy, girlie whirlie saw. l get worried when tensioning the chain cause its a pretty weak setup really....l just can't see this saw lasting in our conditions everything seems to be sotra half strength compared to other brands l'm familiar with.

Did Stihl pay you to say that?

Was thinking the same. Only there small domestic stuff is crap no different to stihls small domestic crap

Guessing you are right Matty 2, personally I don't have anything to do with the small consumer stuff so can only guess.
One thing is for sure, both Stihl and Husqvarna are reputable global companies who spend a lot of money developing their equipment.
From a professional point of view, if one cannot make a living with one brand, they would not with the other either...
Perhaps they make mistakes with some ideas but who doesn't, what about the manufactures who have gone by the wayside, they must of had good products as well as some duds.

?????? need more info Matt please

The hole did not line up with the gallery from the tank or the outlet channel to feed the bar so I marked it out with bearing blue drilled the hole and filled the old ones with loctite 3805 whacked it in the lathe to remove the excess and there you have it. Old mate must have fitted the new oil pump as it was all very new when I got the covers off not full of dirt and crap like every other saw .

To be fair its my first dance with a sweedish girl (that lown) & l've only put a couple of tanks through it so its hard to make a fair judgement. l do love how smooth the av is....as for power dunno yet really, its needs to break in & l need to run it next to my other 50cc saws. l tell you guys what a good 50cc saw is....Solo 656..that saw whoops both 550 & 261 and does so quite noticably. But l don't mention my solo's much on AS cause guys think they suck & come from mars. Funny that there factory is less than a mile from stihl and they been there longer than Andreas. l think Andreas is a better businessman than Hans from solo thats for sure. Better engineer....absolutely not.

And l don't really have stihl/husky blood running through my viens. l just like saws and realise many brands make good/bad models. l just try to buy the good ones. But one thing l learned from buying & selling many cars when l used to wholesale was the Germans are pretty clever. ln a way they're responsible for the safety of ALL road users and get little credit for it. SRS, ABS, traction control, stability control, steptronic gearboxes, park distance sensors, distronics, lingtronics, crumple zones and the list goes on all come out of germany. One factory in particular called mercedes-benz. These things don't come out of japan/korea/usa and certainly not geelong.lol Sorry if l derailed this thread...if thats possible. As you were.

Give the 550 a chance to run in a bit mate. My 550 would positively thump the 261 I owned and also the 261C I've run. Only downside to the little Husky is that it's spike is crap with no option for a larger spike or dual spikes and it's filter is also garbage compared to the 261.
Is that Solo of yours 56cc?

Yeah she's 56cc and on specs 3.2kw(if that means anything). l got the 361 dual daugs/roller catcher on my 261 which really made a differance in that real thick bark we get. The 550 daug is a bit funny thats for sure but l'm learning not to diss/speak truth about saws on AS cause they all crawl out from under rocks & jump on ya pretty quick. l can't type fast enough to beat em all off.lol
