Yes, Gary McCoy was hard on his tyres. Gobert was who I was thinking of when mentioning the Supers. Man that was great racing! I miss the supers. I can get a back door deal from a supplier for a top box and special card to get all the pay TV channels......hmmmm! ;)

BTW, I'd be interested to know what Endless do inside too.

Went along and helped at Vic industry tree climb comp today. Twas lots a fun, great to see new blood young blokes pushin new tricks up trees. One kid 13 yold could out climb me now easy and push me along 20 years a ago.

Yep, those kids need to loose a knee cap or two!
 
Friends have a property over that way and the stockman that works there says that all the blokes that work for the Stoners can't say enough nice things about them.

I wasn't going to say this but, about 3 or 31/2 years back i looked at the same farm with the real estate agent. I was looking for something small < 200ac which had a house and sheds plus somewhere to relocate my mill to something permanant.
That block looked very good, but the price i thought was a bit high and i would of had to sell my own house on the coast to buy it. Next thing i heard, they walked in and were happy with the price and it was sold.
The day i was taken over to inspect that farm, it was snowing very heavy and totaly misserable, the real estate agent rang and said its too cold to work so i will take you property hunting and he came and picked me up and over we went on the tops rd (tamworth road) with 6 inches of snow and him chargeing along like its a sunny day with his old land cruser wagon.
That block was covered with 6 or 8 inches of snow that day so i got a different feel for the place, i should of gone back after the snow had gone.

Anyway , i have heard only good reports about them, and they get along in that little comunity.

Hahaha, have a UEC box with an Optus Aurora card ATM and will be getting a new VAST box soon.

Supposedly 'extra' channels can be programmed in with the remote Al ?? (and ours has crapped itself so I can't find out)

I have a loop of Oregon 72DP and I can't make it cut for sh!t compared to Carlton A1EP in some tough, dirty old sleepers. (mix of Ironbark and Box)

Same angles, (30*) same hook, same raker height (6-7*)
Its just slow and won't hold up to the dirty crap either.

All I can think of is too much drag from the stupid bumper link, what's the consensus ?

serious q; y u wanna cut dirty wood anyway?plenty clean ironbark,box around,leave the dirty wood for the weekenders to cut,they don,t know the difference anyway.too expensive to cut crap wood unless ur desperate and are being paid heaps to do it.:msp_smile:

Don't pay anymore than $279 for a Vast box Rick. Shop hard you may be able to get one for $260 odd. The UEC's are a ripoff considering they are only a card reading top box. They need some competition but the Gov won't allow others in on it. UEC must have a long tongue!

I don't know Rick, a mate of mine in the game who's right up on these things with his right hand man hasn't mentioned anything like this as yet. Any developments, I'll let you know. Actually his right hand man is trying quite hard to crack the system.
 
I got about 6 saws now so I'm starting to think about security of them. My open shed door policy in semi rural acreage makes it easy for the thieves if dropping by to lift em.
How do you blokes nails these things down without to much chain or box unlocking hassles?

I just have mine (some of them) on shelves in the dining room haha. But you could get one of those steel cables with a lock on one end. I think i even saw some at my stihl dealer.

I don't nail em down mate, I take em out bush and throw em down a mine shaft!
 
Argh, and my saws are 2,000km away and I need to touch up a few chains before I get there :cry: , Neil, how are the billets and speed blocks shaping up for Walcha?

I will know after tomorrow nights show meeting mate, i think all is in order thus far. Dean and i were thinking 16'' blocks for O100 unlimited, but more than likely 15''.

FWIW colour means nothing when it comes to oil.


Short trips and city driving kill oils quicker than anything.
Trips under 20km in a diesel and I'd pull the oil change intervals right back.
The engine and oil doesn't get hot enough to volatilise off any condensates leading to oxidation.

You are correct Rick in regard to the colour. However not everybody tests oil so thinking the average vehicle can get 15,000km before it needs an oil change is only an assumption until it gets tested.
A mate's dad is an oil rep (I can't even remember the company!) and he has all the test gear in his shed. He's done a fair bit of work with local transport companies and saved them a heap of dough on their servicing. In fact I think he even gave them a kit to test their own oil.

picked up this little gem on the weekend, didnt cost me a cent, just gotta go back and help the bloke fell about 350 50ft tooth picks. stihl worth it tho

Yeah I have had the same thought Dave. I know of landcruiser utes that feed horses and one of them does around 2-3 hours of engine running time per day, 365 days a year for 15 years now which works out to around 11,000 to 16,000 hours but the odometer only reads around 150k. It definitely drives like a worn out ute.

I agree Dave. That's why tractors use hours as a service interval and not kilometres. My father in law's 2.4L diesel Hilux was completely knackered after 150,000km of farm use. On road she'd have just been run in :D
 
new ute

Well, this week i got a shock with this new mitsy 4x4.
I got caught before the bottom of enfield hill ( nearly into walcha on the oxley highway ) with road works. Was stoped and in front was a toyota landcruser with a lot of trade gear like oxy bottles and big tool boxes and other stuff meaning he had weight and would be slow on the long hill.
When we were let go he got going quick to get a run up before the hill so i went with him and we then started up, i got up to about 100km and thought i'm getting around him as he will loose speed as the hill takes over.
I went out to pass him and he obviously though piss off and kept going faster, i finaly got to his side and realised its a new turbo V8 and thought oh no i'm going to make a fool of myself here.
I held it flat and got round him and the mitsy kept climbing and buy the time i pulled back over into the left it was just over 130km and still 1/2 km to go uphill and still wanted to pick up more.
I had my usual 44 of fuel and tools so i am sold on the new tritan, a long way infront of my old rodeo.

Years back my old 2.8 hilux use to charge up that hill at round 75km 4th gear, how much 4x4's have changed.

Those hill detector 2.4's were slow but wern't they reliable, i am looking for one for my son as he gets his licence in 2 years or so.
