So my 1911 and 375 Mag are not a *real* guns? And you will survive two controlled rounds to the chest and one in the head?

Interesting...

Vince winked as a joke :) You guys suck. I'd give my left sweaty one to own some of the firearms you guys can get.

I'm betting somebody wouldn't survive a few UNcontrolled rounds to the head or chest either :)

ON a different note,,,, I wanted to give Waynes china 70 a run dismorning,,, its a b**ch to start on cold mornings with yet another starter cord broken. I will get her going later today.

Sorry mate but there is not one dictionary on earth that would describe that as a gem :) I had an XL2 that I gave to Wayne (gmax). It was completely gem free, or gemless in other words. A complete lack of gemness.

At the end of the day, gun violence is a rarity here ...
Humans hassling me will be the least of my concerns.

sent from a hand held thingy via magic invisible waves......

Different world up here. Was off roading with my brother in my Range Rover GDE some years ago in the Southern Oregon Cascades. We were carrying several handguns and long guns. I thought we were paranoid and over-armed, until we got home and a sheriff deputy called me at work. He said they were asking for information on a guy that went through the same campground we stayed at the day we left and shot several people there, killing two. The guy was despondent over breaking up with his GF and went on the rampage, killing 3 or 4 people in all. They had the guy in custody and wanted corroboration from witnesses that were in the area where he was at the time. We only missed him by a few hours.

Here where I live in am more worried about bears, cougars and wolves. They have released wolves in Idaho and they are letting them migrate into Oregon now. Not my idea of a good thing, but the greenies want it. Then there are the jerk humans that go on the rampage. Some woman not too far from me put her husband through their Bandit Chipper a few years ago. Out here the humans are not as bad as in the city though. Every night on the news 3 or 4 people are shot in Portland. Gang violence is really high there lately.

what i am getting at is hand guns are not popular here. as their main purpose is self defence ( as i see it) not for hunting.

Self defense in Aus well at least in the country areas ...Is a Fist lol

"I see" said the blind man to his deaf son...

Hand guns are for self defense yes, for and against other humans. Hunting with a .357 Mag would be pretty lame. Though I think hunting with an AR-15 is also lame, as it was designed to wound humans in battle, but guys here hunt deer with them fairly commonly. *shrug* I much prefer a .30-30 for that.

The term controlled rounds comes from my tactical weapons training at a place called FrontSight in Nevada. It is (or used to be) run by a lot of very paranoid ex-military types that believe in extensive and rigorous repetitive training. They also have active ranges to train in various situations, including assault, hostage taking and the like. They also train on how to use cars in firefights, and urban situations, and close quarters combat. I had free passes to train there from one of the investors in the place when I worked in the Silicon Valley as an engineer. I used to go there with several European friends that could not own or use any of the weapons they allow in Nevada. Fully automatic weapons are allowed there, like the Thompson .45. That place is just outside of Las Vegas, near Death Valley. I learned a lot of tricks there, but I prefer training with my brother in a quarry near here. We usually do some plinking with a .22 rifle to get into the mood, then set the sights on the long guns and fire a few rounds at targets, (budget depending) and then set up scenarios with handguns. I put plywood on posts and staple 8-1/2x11 pieces of paper on them at chest height, and add another piece of paper folded in half at head height. Then we do scenarios with guns in both hands, (absolutely worthless, but it trains the brain to avoid using certain methods seen in a lot of movies), fast reloading, sideways one arm grips (also useless, also seen in a lot of movies), shooting on the run (worthless, but fun!) and then standard combat stances twisted with both hands on the gun. Then we get creative.

As for available firearms here, one of the several reasons that I moved from California to Oregon was because of the limitations of arms in California. All guns require licensing there, many are banned, and in California concealed permits are almost impossible to get. In Oregon they are easy to get (guns and permits), but permits are only good in this state. So I also have a concealed permit issued from the state if Utah, good in 30 some odd other states including Washington, just north of me. I got into guns originally after the Rodney King Riots in southern California. It took all of 20 minutes for law and order to break down and mob rioting to take over. The National Guard was called in, but they did not have any ammo, so they did not enter for 3 days. We were on our own. I was unarmed. Never again.

went out yesterday for a quick play as the wife issued a leave pass. maybe should bolted on the boggers.. but was good to test out the winch. tyres really werent the problem.. ploughing with front and rear diffs was the problem.
