Just going out to look at a new clean up job, pictures to come.

Local farmer clearing shelterbelts to make his pasture more productive for dairying.

Quite a bit here to keep us going 4 piles similar to this 1 and a few trees still to drop. Nothing too large for a change.

Real mixture of Old man pine, Macrocarpa, Wattle, Bluegum and Oak. There's also some wood that I could not identify.

The best thing is all the branches already been cleared for us.

You dibber dobbing sunna *****.

Hmmmm. It blocks b1tch..

Well, lets try George Carlin's list of 7 words you could not say on TV in the US at one time:

****, piss, ****, ****, **********, ************, tits!

So it blocks most of them. Respelled the ones that were blocked: shyte, piss, ***, kunt, kocksukker, muthafukker, tits.

was at the local ammo supplier and got to try a few cheaper scopes he keeps in stock just for the sake of it , There was a Simmons Pro hunter for under $200 bucks, Limited lifetime warranty (Not that means a lot? but then again ) ...it was like looking threw no glass it was that bloody clear , no plastic, good looking solid quality too , nice smooth zoom and controls ...what a shock ,makes ya wonder if the Leupold or others brands are all about the Name and not necessarily any better when there 80% dearer

I have a Simmons Whitetail 6.5-20 x 50mm on my Remington 700 .25/06 and have no complaints. It doesn't track very well and it's optics aren't quite as good as my Bausch & Lomb or Jap made Nikkos but for the price I'm not complaining. It holds zero which outside of clarity is all that counts in most situations. I don't reckon you could beat them for the price and I've seen a few cheapies.

On another note the Bushnell Elites are the current version of my Bausch & Lomb and they are top notch. That online gun mob had a brand new 4-16 x 50 Elite 4000 there for $499. Basically the same scope as mine and I paid $899 about 15 years ago.

The cheaper scopes have come a long way mate, the good stuff really shines in poor light conditions though.I had a Ziess for many years and compared it against nearly every other top brand scope and it was out on its own....want to be to,they arnt cheap.Ended up selling it when i needed some quick cash.

Exactly right regarding poor light. Anybody with a good scope will know that on dusk you can see significantly better than you can with your own eyes.
I've shot roos in crops under moonlight with the Bausch & Lomb.

Yeah a mate of mine had a recent Bushnell Elite purchase...really nice scope.

its good to know there's some quality scopes for under 200 bucks that will still get the job done in the mean time, while you explore for something more expensive down the track .. seems researching for a scope is more complex than choosing a rifle

That reminds me of an incident nearly twenty years ago at a guess (around the time Tasco brought out the "world class" line)
A cousin of mine from Sydney was staying here for a week and wanted to do a fair bit of shooting with his Brno with Tasco. Now this bloke knows everything about everything...first night spotlighting i had first shot and as we call it in these parts i winged a rabbit (hit it but not solid enough to stop it) anyway after that he picked up on the term and used it even though the dust was flying feet from the target,he never had a hit all night...he is still to this day known as winged him :D The next day i sighted his rifle in for him properly(much to his disgust) and he asked me why did i waste so much money on good scopes when his Tasco was just as good..normally i wouldnt bother and certainly wouldnt put down someone elses gear......but i had a gutfull.compare the colours, how sharp it is on the edges, how easy it is on your eyes to look through for several minutes etc...no the Tasco is better says he.So that night was a full moon so we went out busting bunnies in the moonlight off a dam bank...i cant bloody see anything he said...here mate have a look through the overpriced scope says me......That shut him up :p
