well ive been researching these damn washers. only two lisitngs on feebay are 7 dollars a piece, and cant find them anywhere else. anybody know a better source for Homelite part number 58970, or something else thatll work.

head down to the hardware store. You should be able to fink a hard fiber washer(plumbing dept), Get the right size so you can cut, file, the rectangle hole in it. Thickness is important, but any tolerance can me made up by adjusting the spring(putting more or less down pressure on both washers and the dog mechanism). A soft washer will break down quicker and is more likely to bind the mechanism. The idea of the fiber washer is to add a slight amount of resistance to force the shoe out to engage the starter cup. A metal washer would not offer enough friction to produce the resistance. This is why it is critical to keep the washers FREE of oil and other contaniments. Can`t find a fiber washer, try a nylon one(you will have to roughen it up a bit. Hope this helps

Where can I find a bearing setup for an Oregon 30666 rim drive clutch drum on a PL-4 Remington. Got one today at Orschlens.

Bailey's lists bearing ORF 11807 for the 30666 drum but I can't find the bearing on their website.:msp_confused:

Also need the Torrington inner race .375" i.d. x .500" o.d. x .530" long. Bearing house in town didn't even list it. Some kind of special.

May have to go the bronze bushing route again.

We have 'stuff'

Carl.

'Stuff' includes PL-4 and 5 parts left over from projects.

anybody know if EZ ao parts and Super EZ ao parts are interchangable, specificly the oil and gas cap? i know the bar mount is the same. and theres only 3cc difference, so im assuming the case is the same. I hope im right. anyone know for sure?

Remington part #66383

I wonder if a homelite one will work? I got some of those on the bay for next to nothing. It looks bigger though.

Yep. The large frame Mac duckbills (with the nubs on top) may be the right size. They don't grow on trees however. I could use a few for my Macs. Guess I'll call Bob J and DM.

I bookmarked one on evilbay but, at over 10 USD for a forty year old part I'm not willing to go there.

I'm inclined to make my own checkvalve guts with a 1/4" dia. steel ball and a really soft compression spring.

Gotta love customer service. emailed the guys at cheap online parts about those fiber washers, and if there was anything they could do about their 8 dollar shipping for something that weighed less than an ounce. He said he had 8 sitting in the back that he would throw in a standard envelope and ship to me at cost. 4.20 for 8 of em!

Who/What is DM? I know Bob Johnson, buy stuff off of him from time to time, but I always like having multiple sources.
