I am looking for a later sxl925 1 piece solid state coil bracket which makes up flywheel side case cover and bearing holder. Have green paper to trade..

I might have that. I have a scored chop saw based off the 925, I'll try to get out to the shop later... I'm sicker than a dog right now. Dang flu bug.

I don't know a bunch about Homelites, but I have this thing if it helps.

Ok, so i got the C51 from cliff today to aid in the reconstruction of the C7. couple questions

1. Will the carb from the C51 work on the C7? part number is the same except for the ending letter. B on the C7 carb, and C on the C51 carb.

2. Which pull start mech. have you found more reliable? one way bearing or metal Pawls?

3. how do you measure out to make your 16:1 mix?

You don't. Run it 40 to 1 like everything else.

I can't remember which one of those recoils is the good one. I'd have to go look at my C-5 and I'm not home.

how can something this simple be so frustrating!?!? Ive got the dohikey in there right (i assume) but it wont expand out and engage the drum.......

it's in right, but looks like you missing a washer that goes in there before the larger one that covers the whole mess, unless that's it on the right, first in line? Are the springs to tight? Works when you give it a good pull unless the springs are to tight.

Friction washer is missing that sits on top of the shoe carrier, the coil spring on top of that then the big cover washer and the E clip that holds the whole assembly together.

Thanks Ed. I didn't remember the names and I can't tell what that is just to the right of the housing and left of the big washer.... looks like the spring. Knew it was a washer... just not a Friction washer... learn something new each day.

there is a metal washer, then fiber, then metal again under the shoe carrier. the metal washers are not round, and fit over the shaft.

That is the coil spring in the middle, im assuming im missing a fiber washer. But Im pretty sure it was working before i took it apart...now its not.

your correct, the smaller fiber washer is missing.

There are TWO , one above and one below the dog cross.

You can shim the coil spring with an extra thin washer for more pressure if you have the room.

I found a lawnmower parts website that carries the fiber washers at about 2.50 each. But, they charge 8+ for the postage. What a bunch of poo-poo.

The sprag clutch is normally used lightly lubricated in a clean enviornment like an automatic transmission.

I don't see them used in a chainsaw. Poor application.

Thank you guys for the help, think ive got it now. added some washers for shimming, and actually trimmed the springs on the dogs.

Ive got a different style pull start installed on the saw right now, but want to put the original C7 starter back on, so we will see...

I have a McCulloch 1-72, I cannot get it to run. 150psi compression, exceptional spark (I cleaned and regapped, and set the coil gap too), carb kit and factory tuning, no air leaks. Starts on prime every time, but will never pull fuel. Maybe I need a carburetor? I dunno, but if anyone has a Tillotson HL that'll fit this saw, lemme know, and I might just jump on it.

Keep in mind that this style throttle linkage HOLDS BACK the throttle shaft in idle position, and when you depress the trigger, it brings the throttle linkage forward and a spring on the throttle shaft rotates the shaft, opening the plate, as far as the throttle linkage will let it open.

Thanks,

Bryan

You sure your impulse channel isn't blocked? Or the fuel filter isn't plugged?

Ya, I'm checking that out right now, as well as triple checking my needle lever height...

The carb looked fine, and I assume that if the welch plugs were crap, then it would be flooding, right?

Thanks a lot for the reply, this saw is in really nice shape, new bearings and seals too.

Well, in my effort to complete it, does anyone have the rear engine shroud/spark plug cover for it?

That's my one missing part.

Thanks,

Bryan
