Aw you guys have such nice old cars - I am ashamed of what we poor aussies drive. But they are not all Chinese like McBob says. My Dad was a Chevy man and his last one was a '72 Comaro. He'd roll in his grave if he knew I was posting a pic of a Japanese saw but it kind of fits this thread. Just got it and it goes fine but is sooo heavy. Dad, the war is over and they are our trading partners now. Yes, you told me about New Guinea.

Al, nice old Echo. I'd never seen one of those! I really liked your pic of the PM100 in the other thread; very clean one with the 'better' full wrap.

Nice, very nice! Sits there like a rumbling, angry animal!
(ANOTHER of your saws I'll have to lust over, since Lee, JP and Wendell own all the 166s over here .... :) )

I played that video quite a few times, thank you for posting it again.

I had never seen the video, but have now saved a link!

Yeah, Lee was kind enough to leave this one for me :D

I hear a Wiseco in that there Dolly.

Lee

You do indeed, without your help I wouldn't have finished it, thank you

I would like to hear that sound put of my 166 again. On Saturday after making several large cuts my rod bearing went out. Luckily there was no catastrophic failure, and it was caught just in time, but for now it's a dead saw. I hope I can fix it or find another rod and crank.
I was running it and my 088 both with 42" bars buried in cedar. Man that Dolly put a spanking on the Stihl. Much more torque and not as aggressive an rpm. In my opinion the 166's are and elegant, easy on the eyes, extremely pleasant saw to operate. It's like they were designed by somebody who knew how to make a perfect saw rather than an engineer just making a tool.

Those SD152-166 saws make me think of a 'modern evolution' of a 9-series Homelite (9-23 thru 995D). Similar basic layout and character. Modern AV, ignition, porting, and muffler (and a few more CC's).You guys may think I'm out of my tree on this one............but I don't care.

Your first paragraph makes me want to

Your second paragraph makes me want to :msp_thumbsup::clap:

fetch a good penny or two.:msp_tongue:

Hey there lee, I keep seeing that drool inducing 101BG in your sig...

When are you gonna put a 80+ inch bar on that and bury it in some monster hardwood tree/log?

Bring me the log and i will bury the longest bar i have in it.
That saw is a blast to run if you can stand the noise it makes.

If I ever get a log that big dropped here, I'll let you know and you will get to be the first to bury a saw in it.

I can tell you I am not gonna deliver it to your place, lol. I don't have anything that could move a log that big.

Ya, Moving large diameter logs can be a pita. I have my eye
on some nice wood for chainsaw testing and general messing
around. The largest is 36+ diameter. We just don't get big
wood around here.

Same here... there are some 48" and possibly larger, but not very many. I guess we'd have to settle for noodling... Can you imagine the noodles pouring out of the clutch cover and flying along the top of the chain on that monster 101BG? That would be an awesome sight to see.
