Road trip Fraz.

Y'know, you could bring me an ashtray or two, seein' as I don't have any. The 770D has the Fairbanks-Morse starter but every other upright-cylinder Homie I have lacks the damn thing. Where in the hell did they all go? I'll buy PBR and Jim Beam to supplement the Buffalo Trace, of course.

First, I must apologize in advance for breaking the cardinal rule: "Pics or it didn't happen". I don't have a camera right now; they only last me six months, and my most recent one died a few weeks ago and I haven't replaced it yet. That said, it's been a GREAT week for me as a saw nerd.

I have acquired:

Homelite 770G + 32" General sprocket nose bar & .404" Oregon chain
Homelite 770D + 20" Homelite hardnose bar & 1/2" Oregon chain
Homelite 909D + 36" Oregon rollernose bar + .404" Oregon chain
Pioneer 610 + 20" hardnose bar + 1/2" Oregon chain
McCulloch 1-80 + 20" McCulloch hardnose bar & McCulloch 7/16" Pintail chain

as well as trading my 038 Mag 2 for a Husqvarna 2100CD w/36" Oregon B/C. All saws are complete and either run or can be made to in a couple of hours or less.

That is, 592cc gained, 72cc lost, for a net gain of 520cc. Total cost $650. I'm feeling pretty good about this week. Pics as soon as I have the hardware to make 'em.

Good job! You ditched the Stihl for a 6ci Husky, got two great 5.8ci Homelites, one GRAND 6.8ci Homelite, a 5.3ci Mac, a Pioneer that I know NOTHING about (although I'm sure it's cool), and got some cool bars. Congratulations.

No ashtrays for you.
I do have a McCulloch for you.

Nay!
Yay!

arnt you looking for so s44ors55 parts.

I do believe that Randy is hinting at the very saw that I would be looking for parts if I didn't sort of have it all of a sudden. Remember that I got a 1-40 awhile back and the removable head gave me some -- err -- lascivious ideas? The group consensus was that a 1-40 is not a saw worth putting a bunch of effort into modifying (I agree -- it's an oddity at best) and Randy offered up as an alternative either a 44 or a 1-80 -- I forget which -- but either way, now that I have a 1-80, I'm more motivated to mess with it. I am especially interested in before-and-afters of things that I can do with a removable head than I can't without.

"Re-Inventing The Wheel" is the best hobby ever. Old engines are just plain fun.

I got a couple more entries myself to show. Here is a Mac 895 and a Mac Super 797. I had some technical difficulties with the 797, as it stalled just as I shut off the other saw, lol. It started right back up though....

OK here are a couple you don't see every day, unless you live in Falmouth, Mass.

2 Alpina Pro 120's. They are over 7 cubes each.

Dull chain, or just the timber we have here ?

Ok gents check this out,you US saw users and builders take note this is a vid of Oak (US hard wood ) and one of the Ozzy hard woods Yellow box.We have heard it all before sharpen ya chain and so on,see how the Oak has ribbon type saw dust and the Yellow box is more like dust.
Chain is a Carlton semi chisel skip and a 7 pin sprocket.
Saw is a ported 441CMTronic and 28'' ES Light bar.

y'all have Oak Down Under?

That sure is some hard stuff there, that yella box.

Kind of like the difference between ripping and cross-cutting.

Only thing close to that stuff around here is the bottom six inches of a stump.

Oak isn't bad compared to ash, your mileage may very.

Sweet 120s. I like them more every time I see them.

The Alpina 120's sure do have a cool look to them. They are very small considering the displacement, but then when you pick them up they are quite heavy. The power head is like a little yellow brick.

Not very high revving engines, but they have decent torque and reasonably good balance to them.
