Had an MS660 buried in some oak today. Was wearing a 24" and it was a little short. I have a 28" and 30" for it, just didn't bring em. They are the right saw for big wood. I don't use mine very often but it has its place. It'll stay in my line up.

Not 'gains' I'm all about..

I would leave the .404 chain for the torque monsters of years gone by and the ms880 and 3120xp, I am not saying that a ms660 won't pull it, I just don't think there will be any gains especially on bars over 28 inches.

Never meant more than 28".. I just need a used bar that I can find, from 24 to 28"..
My calculations are always way more simple: Efficiency. How that is possible?? Well, a very close dealer to my location has an NOS .404 bulk leftovers, so I might be able to get a couple of loops for whatever bar I find - for a fairly cheap.. thought I'll keep the 3/8" rim sprocket on standby while I give the .404 a test drive :p

Great thread guys.. :D
