Dan
Would this info stem from your intimate knowledge of your burgeoning number of alter egos?

Brian , I'm not certain whether I should feel ashamed of myself for being mean to xtreme or remain indignant that he continues to use up good oxygen and bandwidth.

begely why are they zenophobic and understand the law of gravity? You cannot have both. What does the purpose of this fear serve them?

thats the one
theres another dead in the background, Ill climb it to.
my spikes are like woodchuck birds with chainsaw feet.
Thanks dan Ill nab that pic

its pretty dead aint it, what would you price to rope it out over the road. I'm JUST KIDDING

this dead tree is deceptively strong to me, it is some variety of oak and will saw like concrete. Id say only 35 % strength loss

I really dont have that strong a gear to pull it over, it leans over the road mostly 1 limb will bomb the road the other fork should fall well and the other should hang but clut clear with a tip and slip vcut.

Ive thought of redirecting to forest and then parking redirect and with another vehicle pulling tree into forest, at least on the 30 foot stubb

All my notchs besides the tip and slip as to minimize movement on the tree, I do not want hidnging or tear cuts, this induces movement throuout the tree I dont like that.

This tree is full of critters (and poison ivy), don't forget to wear a face mask (possums, raccoons, squirrels etc.) :) White-breasted Nuthatch you've got the side of the trunk, plenty of bugs for it to eat on this tree:
Nuthatch on right side of trunk

I'm trying to figure out the the oak species. The branch structure of the healthy tree on the right looks like red oak or possibly pin oak, Same for the close one on the left but the bark looks too flaky for either. Guess it's a white, what'the ID on these xtremetrees?

Good point TreeCo made about the roots on the dead one (what roots?).

I had not given much thought to the roots. I do believe it is Quercus Alba friend with modulous of rupture around 12,000

X, I don't have an answer for your question. Your dead tree pic looks like the stuff I do for the local township here. I've finally gotten them to understand that the tree was dead long before it gets to that condition, and they (and I) keep a closer lookout now. I'd climb that tree, If I could get my hooks to stick. The limbs will bust up on road contact, and pull the stub back into the woods. quick sweep of debris to one side re-opens the road for traffic, and a quick loading and its all over but the billing. Locals will harvest the downed stub for firewood. If not, that hazard is gone, and stub cleanup becomes property beautification, something the township is prohibited from doing.
