X,

Why would you climb that tree when you don't have to?
It looks like you have a live one in the vincinity

Ekka had some pics on here awhile ago of a hook he made up for racking his saw. I made up some of them for myself and my other climber and it is great. I wish I could find that pic, it has proven to be a priceless addition to my saddle.

I know all these big mouths never put thier lives in their groundmans hands for training. They probably havent don this kinda training with their ground man this year much less last month.

Let your groundman lower you regylarly panicky kids it may one day save your life.
fell like i came in late on something, whats the deal?

Roots??? We don't need no steekin' roots to hold up dead trees!

This is an offer of pearls, I hope not to swine.

The tree should have a root crown excavation and probably be guyed in three directions before a climber puts a rope into it. How many of these trees have killed people? Go look in any of the accident and death forums on any arbor discussion board. Just in the last few weeks there have been three trees that fell and killed people reported on the forums.

In MN a tree that was that dead would have NO root system. If it weren't growing within a woods it would have fallen long ago. Maybe the roots don't decay as fast in Georgia...but I doubt that.

Be safe, it would be terrible to loose another climber.
