About as far west as possible without salting my nuts, but it's no big deal. Our dog needed his heart medicine at about 4:15, so it worked out in his favor.
Sorry about that. I had been awake for 2 hours and saw it failed to send, so I did it again.

Just give me a shout and I'll look into shipping to see if it's worth it or not. I'd rather have someone who has done one before.

I texted the number you have available about muffler and timing if you do that as well. I dont need a bigger saw, I'd just like to be able to run a 20 in bar without having it bog down as much.
I arrived in this thread seeking some basic carb settings, for a 271. In my case, the OEM carb is clean/new kit, and has non-adju. jets. The manual instructs, L = 3/4 out, which is maxed. H = is the same, just CCW. Saw bogs on demand of WOT. I went to an aftermarket carb with adj. jets. Saw starts on choke and is wanting to run, but stalls when going from fast idle, to idle. Thats my starting point......where should I be trying these jet settings? Thanks Guys.

As to this thread, Wanting a small saw to do a bigger saws job is common these days; some guys with short arms and deep pockets get sticker shock, and attempt to solve their "Need", by re-inventing the wheel, despite not having ever changed one......Happy New Years Everybody!!

Once you pull the limiter caps off the carb adjusters you will have lots of adjustment for a muffler mod and filter upgrade.
You'd have to do some crazy porting before the carb wouldn't adjust far enough.
I've always found it easy to adjust the high on chainsaw carbs, you make the saw 4 stroke/sputter out of the cut then clean up when cutting. Start rich and work your way lean until it cuts the fastest. The low is a bit harder, you need to make the saw idle, start and respond to throttle good but its still not hard.
Well said. Thats the kind of concise mechanical expertise this forum is known for. However, I fear its lost on this 271 owner, as it requires the experience. I think he may be in over his head, and at the very least, not in his wheelhouse.
