Hi Treeclimber, the Walker`s dyno charts may not be entirely accurate but in my opinion they get you in the ballpark in terms of baseline performance and relative gains after mods. According to the dyno chart that Walkers provided with my 346, my peak power rpm was raised abit and the peakpower range was significantly broadened. By seat of the pants verification against another new bone stock 346, I would say that their numbers told a true story. I only have one Walkerized saw, the 346, but I will have more to see if they are all as an impressive improvement as my 346 was. I can`t find any faults related to Walker`s work on this saw.
tree_reaper, fun_chopper nailed it when he spoke of the Stihl attitude about one ring saws and there lack of memory regarding their own one ring saws. I could be mistaken, but of all the current Pro Huskies, the only two to have one ring are the 335xpt and the 346xp. Frankly, the one ring thing doesn`t hold any water unless you are talking about Homelites or Poulans anyway. Like Brian, treeclimber165, said also, the highest hp saw is not necessarily the most productive. I remember your dilemma from your post at "that other site" and stand by my recommendation that you consider a saw smaller than the 385 for what it sounds like you will be doing. A 357 or a 372, with a muffler you modified yourself, would kick some behind against the 310 or the 365. Considering the closeness of the cost and weight, I would go with the 372, possibly my all time favorite saw. Russ
