welder engine problems

Well I put in the new points and condensor and it's still not starting . Not sure what look at next .

Is spark good now. I have seen a lot of Onan with one of the rods broken

So you have good spark now?...If so, check the fuel system!......If you can, get the engine running, using a small squirting bottle, squirt some fuel directly into the carb, the idea of this is to bypass any problems with dirty fuel tanks, fuel lines, pickups, filters, pumps, seals, diaphragms, etc.

If it will run using this method, then work backwards from the carb.

Well I tried that but no spark yet. The only thing I can think of is the points aren't right yet there is almost a steady spark across the points

Is your Onan electric or manual start?

Electric but it uses the welder motor too turn it over

Is the 'system' 12 or 24 volt ?.......And do you have a usable battery in it?.....Also, some Onans are negative earth, some aren't.

It is 24 volts with 2 fairly new battery's

Well good news it has spark now and will fire up if I put a little gas in the spark plugs but it will die very quickly . Compression is at 93 psi on both sides .

It has finally started and is running great . Welder works on it too .. it must have had a blockage in the fuel line . Thanks for all your help .
