My summer is going to include a lot more of this also.

The beauty of it is.....I set this up in the pit at the end of the driveway. Throw the target in the cart, hook up the wheeler, and head down. I'm shooting in 15 minutes from firing the wheeler.

Myself, the neighbor, and a friend of mine went through some rounds on Sunday. I told the neighbor we are going to be shooting a lot this summer.

In the woods daily now for morels, turkeys next week... Ticks already bad...

I was thinking about going after morels but think it is still 1 week if not 2 too early here. Finding many down there?

Now is the best time to find wood to pick up. It seems like there are a lot of people having trees taken down and gone. Most of the other scroungers are not thinking about firewood but for me it's 365 days a year and getting as much as I can as fast as I can. Once the warmer weather comes I plan to just split.

Finding a good many black morels, the early ones. Be a few more days on the white ones.
I hear it could be a banner year year in these parts... possibly a record year.

Temps and rain are right here, think we will have a banner year. I fried a couple large batches last night. :)

Excuse me??????? Never heard of or seen black or white ones. We have gray and yellow's, with the gray's coming out first and small usually.

My summer plans are laid out...got enough split, seasoned for next winter, of course I don't burn nowhere near the wood my northern and midwestern brethren do...but my plans have been and will be focused on bass, bream, crappie. Gotta put the boat in the water to get em...if not, Captain D's gets awful expensive. Full moon/new moon cycles now mean fish in the freezer. Get'em while they're beddin, the males are up close to the bank now, females full of eggs loitering in deeper water right behind em. Good luck folks if you're turnin some of your attention to fishin.

PS...I did make a good scrounge from a neighbor across the street, couple houses down...I'll post the pics on the 'Firewood Scrounge' thread...got some nice wood outta the deal. Straight stuff, crotched, gnarly as well. Maybe enough to make a 1/3, 1/2 cord or so. Had to do some bucking, cart it and wheelbarrow it to the house, not a problem.

Same thing just different part of the country. I've lived here 25 years and still not used to the Ozark lingo. :)

Not the same thing... I've found all four types (or colors).

I have access to a woods that was logged a few years back and there are just tops laying EVERYWHERE... Big tops... Many of them start in the 20" range and a few are even bigger. Far more tops of GOOD stuff than I will get cut before they go bad. White oak, locust, red oak, beech, ash. Plus like every other woods around me there are a bazillion standing dead ash. My girlfriend says we are gonna cut all summer long so I don't have to drag her out in the cold next winter.
and just WHERE??? did you find her at???? :D

Before I had kids I hand loaded and shot a lot. Miss it.

It can and "should" come back around once they get old enough to shoot. Shooting is a great sport for the whole family to enjoy together.

The reloading will come in very handy for turning out economical rounds and when it's time to introduce them to larger calibers especially in handguns.

You can load full house magnum rounds down to "mouse fart" or plinking loads. Extremely enjoyable to shoot with negligible recoil that is absorbed pretty much by the weapon.

I just started doing this with a 44 mag I got a bit ago. Regular 44 loads are attention getters and my clown stopper loads are not fun.

So, I worked up some 44 special loads in 44 mag brass. An utter peach to shoot and very well suited for this certain pistol. I have others will laugh at the heavier loads so those will be for them.

The kids can be involved in the simple steps of the reloading process to get them interested. Brass prep, etc. Then advance them through the stages when the time is right.

Sorry for the thread jack and I just realized you probably already knew this.:D

I loaded some 12 gauge stuff for my kids years ago. Got em so light I think you about had to have the barrel pointed down to get the pellets to come out.
