Lmao

Well that post was as clear as mud...:bang: :help:

Glad he's a Husqvarna fan.:hmm3grin2orange: Especially since Husqvana doesn't make any Pro saws below the 372xp. I guess anything below a Stihl MS660 is homeowner grade too.

Oh well... guess I'll sell all my stuff and head down to the Wal-Mart where the "real" saws are sold.:welcome:

Gary

Yep,, U RIGHT,,,, "clear as Mud" :ices_rofl: :ices_rofl: ,,,, Tried to rep you on that one and it wouldn't let me,,, guess I'll sell all my junk too and go to Wally world and get a Wild Thingy,,,, or Orange Box and see what kind of deal I can come up with

I cant help it if u cant run with big dawgs stay on the porch
I love my husky 372xp anything smaller and you get out of
their professional saws but that is my opinion im looking to buy
a 3120 but if you cant afford a pro model you might look at
echo they make good affordable power! sorry im just not a
stihl fan husky turns faster rpm gets done faster is what it
means to me . also its simple dosent have that bs choke switch
combo some people like them and they make a good saw but
i will stick with dawgs till they stop making great saws

If so why do most loggers and proffesionals have Stihl then

I probably will be cutting every weekend for a while, some wood upward of 30 inches, maybe more. I am willing to spend around 400 or so.

Nothing smaller then a Jonsered 2171 I think :help:

No problem dude... shipping weight will be around 450 pounds. You will need some 5/16" files for the 3/4" race chain that it has on it. Don't worry about the rakers... they are pretty low, and hungry.

Let me know...:hmm3grin2orange: :hmm3grin2orange: :hmm3grin2orange:

Gary

Could you fit it with a top handle for me.... Got to do some of that "one handed reach" limbing...overhead.

hey oldsaw i could maybe borrow a 840 hp Jay Dickens race engine for that bar

bullseye, I think you should go for a good used 394 or 660. Usually the 395's (same saw, basically) go for a little more b/c they are newer, but I got mine for under $400. It needed a little work, but it runs great now!! Worth every penny, and a he!! of a lot faster on 30" wood than anything you're going to find new for $400.

Hi everyone, thanks for all the good information, i found an 044 local, not sure what shape its in yet, he wants $125 for it, and it has a 36in bar. He says it runs good, but a little hard starting sometimes. I'm pretty handy with saws and i have done a lot of work to many, and i think i can work out the hard starting part. Do you guys think its a good deal? Isn't a 36in bar a little much for that saw, being that i'm cutting oak i'm a little concerned, i don't want to overwork it too badly. Thanks in advance.

I would think a 36" on an 044 would be way too long in hardwood... but it's been a long time since I've ran one...and then it was a real fresh saw with 20" in 10-15" oak/hickory...

$125 seems like a steal, but at that price, it'd allow for lots of rehab parts (which it'll likely need) Is it possible to have it inspected by a disinterested shop?

$125 for an 044 is lower than the usual going rate for a good running saw, but would be right in the running still as a rebuilder. Unless it's beat or stolen, you likely can't go wrong for that price.

A 36" bar is too long for the saw even in softwood, let alone hardwood. You can add a new, shorter bar and chains to the cost, in addition to any other work it may need.
