what size saw do you prefer in the tree BESIDES a top handle...

I loved my 346, but when it came time to retire it there was no good service in my area, so i went with a 260. The 346 is hands down the better saw.

IME the 346xp with 16" bar with a 5/32 is great after its broken it throw a bigger chan say 3/16 and WOW ....outstanding

i have found that hitting the drags a couple time on a new chain REALLY makes it #### it has enough torque to pull that chain well really well

Stock to stock, a 200T with a 16 will out perform a 346xp with a 16 in a tree, and the 200T is way easier to handle.

In 6in. wood or in 12in. wood? I love my 200T but I just don't see it happening in larger wood. I may have to do a comparison soon. Interesting though.

I've never put a stopwatch to it, but lb for lb, the 200T does better even with a 16. I'd bring the 346 in with an 18 or 20, but never with a 16 if I had an operable 200T with a 16.

Maybe so, but it's just personal preference for some. I grew up running rear handles, my first two years climbing was with a rear handle, and thus i'm just more comfortable in a tree with something like a 346. About the only time the 200t comes out is when limbing a pine.

16" is all i'll run on a 346, a 357 (the saw, not the gun) does better with an 18" or 20". And granted, the 200t will run a 20", but i've always felt i was working the little saw too hard by sinking the full 20" into removals all day long, it's a trim saw in my book.

395 in the tree for me.

Agreed on the personal preference point....

What is the point of having same bar/chain on the saws, I run a 12 inch on the 020 and a 18 inch narrow kerf on the 346.

MS 200 Chain Saw

DISPLACEMENT 35.2 cc (2.15 cu. in.)

ENGINE POWER 1.6 kW (2.1 bhp)

WEIGHT 3.5 kg (7.7 lbs.)

Specifications for 346 XP®
Engine specification Cylinder displacement 50.1 cc
Power output 3.7 hp
Idling speed 2700 rpm
Maximum power speed 9600 rpm

There is no point, that was my point. Someone prior said they take their 346 up with a 16. I was saying the 200T rips better than the 346 side by side with the same size bar (16) Besides, as you know the 200T can't run the same size chain as a 346, length wise yes, not width.

I have a 200T with a 14" bar on it for the light stuff. Once the wood starts getting bigger I go to my Echo CS-400 w/18" (40cc saw weighing in at only 10 lbs and handles just about as easily as the 200T for blocking stuff down). If it looks like I need the extra reach and power though I go right to my 026. I have to agree with the other replies, the 026/ms260 is the ultimate saw to use when things get a little too big for the "ultimate arborists saw" to handle, I love my 026.

I have used my MS441 (32") once or twice but usually at that point its a good time to just come down and drop the thing (unless you want to show off or something haha).

I shoulda disagreed with the above too, hence my posting of the specs for the two saws.

How can a 35cc saw outperform a 50? Also for big cuts i would rather have a rear handle saw then a top.

I won't get into pissing match with you, I'll just say there is more than just HP and displacement that comes to the table here. There is chain diameter, RPM, weight, and maneuverability. You're argument is lacking for someone of your level of knowledge.

Just making small talk here.

I also said I use narrow kerf chain on mine, so the chains are pretty well matched, though my 020 is pulling fewer links.

You have about 800rpm advantage on the 020, but the torque output with the bigger saw makes up for it when the bar is buried in big wood.

For my taste, if the wood is over 14 inches, then I usually call for the medium saw(260 now, i miss the 346 in the tree. It is just a backup ground saw now) , if it I am blocking down over 28-30 in then i call for the 385.

If you need a good husky saw wrench I know of a guy down in Elkhorn he is an old timer but knows saws like nobody I have ever met.

:agree2:

It is finding the right body parts for a reasonable price. The screw mounts in the plastic broke when I had to drop the saw onto my lanyard.

Did you try the Vermeer dealer up on 131st and Silverspring they have ordered parts for me in the past for what husky charges. That is for new parts though. Patrstree.com that way you can look at the IPL they have and find what you need or ebay.

Or post in the tradin post or swap meet sections in the chainsaw forum. Several Huskies share parts with a 346. Much better to deal with a member here than e-bay.
