When I am up amongst the branches, ear defenders on, saw buzzing I often find that there is a song in my head.
Do you know what I mean ?
One of my most popular/recuring ones is Tangled Up In Blue by Dylan.
Its not like I listen to it that often, it just seams to pop into my head when Im up a tree.
I think it may be the line "All that he knew how to do was to keep on keeping on like a bird that flew" that sets it off.
What song do you find yourself singing/humming/whistling/wishing would stop when you are up a tree ?

I believe I know what you mean , think it goes on in my head to much, usually a song for the occaison no matter what I am doing. Does seem more addicting when your hearing is impaired by safety devices or wind.

Holier than thou, you are
By Metalica.

I was playing it to day way too loud in an already loud truck with the windows open on the highway. My 74 year old investor was working with me today. He does yoga, levitates, and all that shi*, so he works alright.

Any way I had to beat this guy off of my fking raio several times, and call him several names. He didn't want hear that "dirty metal." I think he thought he was the captin' of that stereo.

That's what I was hearing the rest of the day up there in "the jungle."

"Holier than thoooouuuu!!!:rocker: You are..."

In my head

"One" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EzgGTTtR0kc Metallica :chainsaw:

after reading the posts "Major Tom" poped in my head and out my mouth. Now my wife is going around singing it.

One that I always draw to when I catch an unwanted song in my head: "Zombie" The Cranburries sings it : "In your head, in your head, zombie, zombie, zombie. What's in your head, in your head? Zombie, zombie, zombie.".

Johnny Cash songs are always fun to "Get Rhythm" with.

If the trees really bad :censored: and :censored: me off I break out Tool's "Stinkfist", doesnt get much more severe than that tune.

Think big cuts: I dont want it, i just need it, to breath, to feel, to know I'm alive!

Was on a huge Pumpkins kick in the late 90's too

These days I'm more mellow, I think I've had the same Cake CDs in the player for too long now - oh, and led zep BBC sessions, some good jams in there.

I guess I'm dating my self a bit here. lol

Black Metal

I have been know to sing "Strangers in the Night" by Franky Boy at the top of lungs while climbing, pretty much scaring everyone within earshot... I had a shop teacher in HS that would never stop singing that song, and it stuck.

When I am really feeling like a badass, I hear crazy Norwegian Black Metal in my head, mostly the song "Seyn Todt In Schwartz" by the Austrian Black Metal Band Belphegor.

I know, I am not right in the head.

Hmmmm......

Usually I'm humming "It's goona be a long Night" or Johnny on the Spot" by Ween.

Dude, you got good taste in music. Tool is my all time favorite band. Seen 'em live twice. You alike APC too? If you dig cake and are looking for something new that's good, and still mellow, I recommend Modest Mouse. Been digging them hard core for a year or so now. In fact, think I'll put some on now.

Jackyl "The Lumberjack" Yayeah!

All very good choices, but here is my all-time favorite when the saws a runnin':

I just wish that I could carry a tune like that with my powersaw...believe me, I have tried:)

I first heard this song when I was falling timber in Alaska. I could not get it out of my head, and it made me a tree cutting animal!:chainsawguy::rocker:...but it did eventually wear off  I would suggest listening in pre-determined intervals

This summer I was taking down a 40+ inch maple over a house lots of decay and lots of big limbs. I'm thinking about how to rig each limb and getting a little over whelmed. Then I realized I could just take it one piece at a time. Which worked nicely. That whole day I was singing johnny cash "One piece at a time". Great song even though I can't sing. I usually only sing loud when the chipper is chipping though...... Mike

Working man blues#2 by Bob Dylan.."You can meet at the bottom don't lag behind, bring me my boots and shoes, Stand back or give it all on the front line, or just sing a little bit of these working man blues." Not sure if those are the right words, but they're ones in my head all the time latley.

Or sometimes American Tune by Paul Simon...but I guess I am showing my age too much here. LOL
