Saw rehab? WHO NEEDS IT!

If i had 75 saws.....well. I think I have that many but most of them are crap. HA.

75 running saws is a tough order. This guy is either single or has a very understanding Mrs.

Either way....my hat's off to you partner. Dayumm

Ive been to his farm, and Madsaw is good people.

it is a shame you can't find someone to sell you a 7900,I have a great dolmar dealer to buy from and that is the reason I went with a 5100.
if you really want a 7900 your only choice is to try and hookup with one of the dealers on here.
I HAVE TRIED THAT.
You are forced to buy locally. If I could order online, I'd probably own a 7900 and a 5100, since I'm such a saw whore.:hmm3grin2orange:

I appreciate the input but people aren't complaining about a dealer who is temporarily out of a model of saw. It's the dealer that only has 3 saws, no parts, doesn't know a thing about them and treats the customer like a total waste of time.

Yep, that's it right there! The one close to me wants to help, but they are not as knowledgeable as I'd like. Nowhere near the level of the Stihl shop. But maybe good customers can help motivate in that area. I'm not sure.

Yeap I got 4 or 5 sets of them dehorner around here just waiting to go on some city folks wall to make a conversation piece.
Thanks Musch for the kind words.

I wouldn't necessarily say whore, more like a prostitute I think, lmfao...

I have had the same problem really wanted a 5100! but the dealers did'nt Even know what it was!!! My local J red dealer is a great guy always gets me parts for all my small engines. He told me in a nice way Dolmars are great but try and get parts for them, So I phoned around looking for a pretend rim for a Dolmar [ just because I thought it was a sales pitch from my J red dealer] well he was right I should have trusted them as they have always bent over backwards for me to get me parts for anything I own evan my old Mac! I cant get Dolmar parts locally I have to go as far as Ontario to get them! I have a local sthil dealer and he is really good also! They both said if you want one wait and see if a good dealer opens and then get one! Those two dealers are great I people like that they are honest! And they know I will be back Even if I own a Dolmar someday. But I think I will buy the 2159 with my xmas bonus!

Well folks, this thread is IRRELEVANT, as I am now the Proud owner of a BRAND NEW Dolmar 7900,
Many thanks to MADSAW  who took the time to hook me up with a very cool local (sort of) dealer.
Well, a ride in the country was just what I needed. ;)

I can't believe the power of this saw being so light.

I need to run it more, thinking about some timed tests with a 24" bar, compared to the 066.

Anyways. thanks a lot to all of you that wrote, and PM'd.

Merry Christmas to me!! :blob2:

Run the same chain on each or close. Would like to see what you come up with.

I have 2 brand new 84 link Woodsman pro semi chisel chains, so that could happen.

Congrats on a great saw. I have never heard anyone ????? about the power they have. The light weight is just a bonus....lol.

Just wait. Just wait until you get 15-20 tanks thru it. It is a totally differant saw once it has some time on it. I honestly can't believe my 7900 is as strong as it is...I've used my 660 about two times since I got the 7900, seriously.

Get some time on it and do a couple timed cuts. I was wanting to do this with the 660 and the 7900 with both small (20") and large (28-32") wood. Keep us in the loop.

Good luck with the new powerhouse.

Not a problem Musch for hooking you up. Brian's little shop is a neat old place to visit. I will be down there next week for a 5100.
Later All

Welcome to the family man... lmfao... :givebeer:

i had questions about getting parts, and wanted a spare muffler in case i screwd mine up.
so, i went ot my dealer to ordrer a muffler. Lady took my order, then said "be right back."
Head mechanic dude came out. "so you have problems with the muffler???? They're under warrantee....." I explained I was going to drill my muffler out, and wanted a spare.
He gave me a VERY VERY nice speech about how the jetting is somewhat limited for modded saws due to EPA, and I need to be careful as at some point the jetting screw will run out of adjustment.
So, I mentioned i planned to take the tab off, and he reminded me that the main jets were pnly so big, and pretty quick i would still run out of jetting adjustment due to mainjet size.

3 days later the muffler showed up with a 6 dollar shipping charge (pretty cheap to me).

I like my dealer a LOT.

Apparently my dealer doesn't have a problem getting parts in.

Huh????

Thats funny, Bob, I told him that knowing you, he better keep a 5100 or two around in case of emergency.

The more I think about it, that little shop had more character than a hundred new places. Wish I'd taken photos. The woodstove with the dog sleeping under, all the old signs, and the super thick wood floors and bench, all covered in bar oil. Not to mention the chainsaw graveyard all over.

Make sure he gives you a calendar when ya go. ;)

That was good of you Madsaw.
Now Mush can tell us Why he owns a Dolmar saw.
Also Mush I am sure Cut4fun would be a big help with your saw if need be.
