The most important difference for you is that LPX has bumped drive links (letter P) designed to reduce kickback. EXL has no such links.

Correct, 72LGX has been replaced by 72EXL but there was some 72LGX in some vendors inventory last i checked. Another question would be what is the difference between 72EXL and 72LGX? I always had good luck with the LGX.
