Looks like the East is gettin pounded with weather again today, work safe out there guys.

Caught the 6 o'clock. reports of gusting to 110 km (bout 65MPH), blizzard conditions with blowing snow. then I also hear that LA had a HUGE hailstorm, stick that with the flooding and the fires of last month and I think it says "California Real Estate Market not booming"

I couldn`t work today because of the wind. Here in Pittsburgh PA we started getting high winds Wednesday night and they stayed strong for 24 hours straight! 25mph steady with gusts up to 70 mph! Couldn`t sleep last night so I sat on the back porch watching. I got to see in one hour, all the leaves in my 80 ft Silver Maple get completley ripped out and blown into the woods behind us. Mother nature just took care of my fall cleanup:) I`m hoping this wind storm will keep me busy for awhile.

WOW that wind really did kick up! But only a few trees blew over and only a few calls for broken limbs, if the leaves were still on it would have been worse.

The big story here is still the thousands of trees that are being destroyed due to the Asian beetle.

We also lost electricty many times for short periods throuout the day. Gave up reseting the all the clocks after the 4th time and every room has a blinking 12:00:rolleyes:

The Great Lakes area was hit yesterday also. Our forestry crew got the call to head out at 5:30 am yesterday to help restore power. Got home last night at 2:30 after numerous "small" scattered outages. Most of the tree work was completed last night and so today is a day off for me.

70 +kph winds does a real number on Balsam fir trees, healthy or not. I'm REALLY starting to hate the balsam fir around here.

North East Winds

Got a call last night from a roofer buddy of mine. A client he put on a roof and gutters earlier this year called him in a fright 45 foot pine ,swaying in the wind stiking the gutters causing damage.

Tight backyard in the Bronx New York, no landing zone, blew the top out onto the flat roof (on purpose) into a bed of 4x4's and old tires. Cut it up and threw it off the front of the building into the truck. Chunked and lowered the rest and walked it through the house.

Fun job, even today I was getting blown around with the top of
this tree.
