since this seems to be the saw that covers my needs, i wus jus wondering.if any one has experience with pp or power tuning this saw, id be interested in the results.my impression in talkin to some builders is that this saw might be pretty right, to start with.
any thoughts appreciated.got to say it does get the job done real good now ,so dont want to mess up a good thing ,if thats what i mite be doing.

Tony,
YES it would pay to have your 036 Power Ported.
You would see a big difference in it.
Not only will it have more power it will start easer.
I would get a hold of Dan and see what he says.
I'm sure he would give it a good check up while he has it apart. It would come back better than new.

thats the idea i been toyin with .in one conversation i got the impression he thought it mite benefit my 667:( more than an 036.
the 667 being a non issue anymore,im thinking about the 036.
aint in a hurry tho as this thing sure is good like it is. still it could stand a good look from somebody who knows what they doing.
sure hate to have this one blw the top end .later now

Tony how many hours are on the saw? If it is fairly virgin, send her to PA! Dan is an expert at breakin the hearts of virgin saws:cool:

now that wk looks familar.:) . yea if dan thinks this is a good candidate that mite be the way to go.only problem, that saw is my go to when the 634 wont do.as far as being virgin, nope she couldnt be called a virgin . this is another reason to have it evaluated possibly by dan.just dont have a lot o confidence in the shops around.guess im jus gettin old an hard to please.:)
well aint no guess about the gettin old part:D

Power Porting of an 036

Tony, I also have an 036. I spoke with Dan re the PP process, and he believes it is a good candidate. It is my understanding that the gains will not be as significant as the equivalent size Husky would experience. I have not sent mine yet, but hope to soon. I modded the muffler on mine and it made a big improvement in power and throttle response. It can cut with a stock 372, and is a little lighter, too. I plan to order a PP346XP from Dan in the next month or so. Got the bug, I guess.

hey john . ive thought about opening the muffler up on this 036.
but its pretty good now and the only one i got for bigger stuff.
sure would hate to blow this one up.u know come to think of it the 667 was the only saw that id adjusted up without opening the exhaust.the rest( except the 036] were opened up and adjusted out afterward. mabe that was what did it in.

I keep building those little 346's with the intention of keeping one for myself. It seems that as soon as I finish one, somebody will want it and I send it out.I cant seem to keep one here.I sold my last one, will have another one here tomorrow.
Later
Dan
