Nice lineup Bullseye

We have the DA-211
Mall 7
Mac 7-55 that really wants to run, sometimes

And the KB-6ay tore apart.
What does the lever on the left hand side do, or what is it supposed to do with the transmission?
This saw seems to be pretty complex on the tear down.

Wondering if my friend from the PNW has a manual for it? (My go-kart friend haha)

This saw has seen some use, and it was dad's uncles saw when they travel sawmilled- now if I could just get the ol Minnenapolis :)

Also, does anybody have a diagraphm out of a 7-55 they can get some pictures and measurements of for Pioneer Fan? He needs to see the metal piece that attaches to it.

You know, the more I dig into this 7-55, which is in total disassembly on the bench, the more it resembles the 47, i just got running. It is just larger, but the basic design is very similar.

LP,

Your disston saw with the lever on the left handle is the clutch engagement cable. You push down to disengage the clutch, and pull up to engage. The clutches on these saws are almost always stuck, they require different levels of disassembly, lube, and an arbor press to free up the clutch. The cables are usually shot too, however McMaster Carr has identical ones that will work with threaded ends.

There is a bearing in a cap under a lever that this cable assembly works, my bearing and cap under the lever are missing. If you need a lever, PM me, there a common wear item and i know where to get some.

I have a show to attend this weekend, hopefully all of the saws i have mentioned will be running by then. Been working feverishly on them. If anyone needs advise on the malls or disstons, let me know, i am very willing to lend advise as i have taken a lot of info from here and would like a chance to give some back.

Bullseye thanks for the info on our new kb6 Lp and me are trying to get this thing going by Thursday but I think it's going to have to wait. We are going to Tenn. for a GTG. The DA211 is my baby I really like that little monster. It's not to bad to work on, it was just that we had not worked on one till we got it.

This Kb is going to have to have a little TLC, the front of the tranny is broke and has been country boy repaired by some of my uncles people. It needs the part that holds the bar on. They did a good job I guess cause they used it like it is but it's a real rig. It may take some time but with you guys as coaches maybe we can get it back up to snuff. We have got into the 2 mans and are trying to pick up some more instead of so many other one man saws. We got so many now it takes a lot to keep um all going.

This old saw means a lot to me cause it was my uncles and it's going to have a good place to rest and play once in awhile.

Anyway thanks for the info, Play safe and sling big chips.

I took a look tonight at the RedHead woodboss I bought a week or so ago. It is not looking to great on the piston. Not locked up and but scored.

What might my options be with this? I seem to find nothing for parts on this unit. It does have spark as it bit me while checking it.

Any thoughts on this. I am thinking this might be more than I want to get into right now with lack of parts but maybe you guys know something most likely that I do not:question:

Also the recoil rope is actually steel cable on this unit, not sure if it came that way but it does work.

If the cylinder doesn't look too bad opposite the scored piston, just slap a set of rings from Otto Gas Engine Works in it. You might be thinking this sort of job is over your head, but I promise you, it ain't if you're carefull. I'm assuming that cylinder is similar to my Universal in that it is cast steel. If scored, have it honed or do it yourself to eliminate the scratches and new rings will seat to the new wall in due time. OGEW......410-398-7340. Tell Dave I sent you. You will need the width, thickness, and bore as measured at the bottom of the piston skirt. If the rings are pinned and you want Dave to file for the pin, he may need a photo of the old ring. Hope this helps

Dean thanks for the heads up on this. I will note the info for when I take the head off. I did notice the rings looked to be very thick. I would really like to see this thing back in action. I was incouraged when I touched the sparkplug and got shocked:nailbiting:

Got the new rings in today, drop-shipped from Hastings, got new seals and bearings, and got an E-mail sent out to Roger Bennett. The 7-55 should be mostly reassembled by sunday, and awaiting carb diaphram.

Acres lists that cylinder as being chrome plated aluminum. Don't hone it. Clean it out with a scotch-brite pad, but don't sand or hone it as you want the chrome to STAY!. It would be difficult to ascertain the thickness of a ring looking through the exhaust. You probably mean the width was wider than you expected. All the older ones were this way.
You're gonna make it run and cut, all by yourself.

My bad , yes I meant width. Ok on the scotch pad. Not sure when I am going to remove the head on it. Should not be to long.

A firiend brought over a couple HUskies that we are getting cleaned and running then this will be next on the list.

Picked up my first 2 man saw today, a Reed-Prentice. Sorry about the group photo with the rest of the haul, but I didn't have time for individual shots.

I don't know how I missed this thread, or maybe I just don't remember reading it. Anyway here's a pic of a couple of my big saws. I know I've posted this pic in the Homelite thread before, here it is again, Joe.
