He fooled me once, I guess I should know,
He fooled me twice, I don't seem to grow,
That's why he the champ.
Of the ArboristSite camp,
Pass the mustard, it's so good on this crow.

Fear not there my ole friend,
I'm not the type to rub it in.

Your poems were good though in vain,
Now I sit and grin and feel your pain.

All in fun though some wouldn't agree,
To them I say haha mess with me.

The woods are clear, not a crow in sight,
They are crisp and tender on plates tonite.

Crow served with a grin throughout the camp,
By yours truely , The Champ.

:ices_rofl: :ices_rofl: Nuff said. It was fun.

Beelsr : :rockn: :rockn: :rockn: :rockn: too good... way too good...

thanks, 'specially liiked how I got 4 threads into this one...

His name is T. Hall, he's a hack.
He thinks that he's got Gypo's knack.
With ugly back cuts galore,
he avoids neatly the gore
By wearing (free) ear muffs and chaps.

How ya like that back wedge.

Lemme see...

"Professional Timber Falling, A Procedural Approach" by D. Douglas Dent

Chapter 28 "Holding Wood and Backcut"

"....The backcut is the third and final required to fall a tree... It is sawn in a horizontal direction, and minimally 2 inches above the horizontal cut of the face.... This procedure forms an anti-kickback safety valve in case the tree attempts to jump back over the stump..."

Chapter 42 "Sloping Backcuts"

"...Sloping backcuts undermine the function of the holding wood... The tree responds much like it does in any situation in which more holding wood remains on one side than the other. If the tree's lean has been misjudged, wedging is a real problem. If such a case, the wedging direction is pushing forward rather than lifting...."

There, you've been properly chewed out by a bookworm for improper procedure. :greenchainsaw:

I sit here alone all beaten and tattered,
I tried to help, I thought it all mattered,

As I gazed at your pictures and fell for your prank,
My gullible side is to whom I must thank,

As I gazed a backcut at a mere 45,
I feared for your life, I love you alive,

So off went a warning, first one and then three,
From all of your friends whom witnessed the tree,

The end of this story, just one more thing to be told,
Your friends are so warm, even when acting cold,

Please know that on AS, from far and from wide,
We'll look out for ole THall and cover his backside.

Peace

Okay, here's the deal...

I'm not a faller, not yet anyway. So I haven't said a thing in this thread about technique. I basically ain't got a dog in this fight.

But I have read in earnest everything everyone else said, and I appreciate all the good info.

But if I read ONE MORE FRIGGIN POEM... :ices_rofl:

This thread,
Is something a serious person will dread,

Because thall made a backcut a 45 degree,
This is a funny one I agree,

Thall was joking,
We didn't know he was poking,

As thall laughed,
We gasped,

We need thall,
Without thall AS would be no fun at all,

"Stupid poems" says newbie,
Should we quit should we?:hmm3grin2orange:

I quit, joatmon takeover!:biggrinbounce2: ;)

Tommy, I'll bet you had fun with that one. I remember when that fella came in the shop and asked you about gettin that thing on the ground. Nice tree. Now for my 2 cents.
A tisket a tasket Tommy's 45 degree back cut didn't get him a casket.

Hehehehehe, you know me well don't you,LOLOLOL Whatcha think Hoss, should these guys come by the shop just to see and hear what really goes on? I think if they really knew how I really are they wouldn't have gotton stumped and I bet they would have a ball in the shop, whatcha think?
