Oh, I definitely know. Anything over 150k miles and a vehicle is pretty much considered dead by any valuation agency or insurance company. 400k on a Honda that isn't hot rodded and abused doesn't surprise me in the slightest. Same with a Toyota. No way in hell would I even consider EDI's without bypass filters and UOA's to backup that my oil is actually doing what it's supposed to do. If Amsoil and yearly oil changes work for your situation, more power to you. I very much doubt they would work for mine, and I certainly won't risk it.

It did take me awhile to trust the extended interval and I slowly built up to it. the honda was not a sunday driver. I have the speeding tickets to prove it. On every bottle of oil it clearly says that the oil is good for 25,000 or one year. If this was false advertising the feds would have sued Amsoil years ago. One thing to keep in mind is that the filters have to be changed according to their schedule. Amsoil is not that big of a company and would quickly fold under a rash of lawsuits, but the company has been around for decades, and has been has been selling synthetic oil longer than virtually anyone else. Like I said before, what works for one does not mean it will work for the next person. There are many choices for motor oil on the market so it is only natural for us all to use what we feel comfortable with.

What the hell is going on? While reading this crap, an amsoil popup ad came up? This is no joke. That is spooky.

My dad runs amsoil synthetic in his 2000 firebird he changes the filter every 12,500 miles and then the filter and the oil at the next 12,500 miles. Alot of the people around here that run amsoil swear by the stuff. My dad has just over 120,000 miles on his car and it doesn't burn a drop of oil. Granted that is not as many miles as other people have but it works it works. I have 2 cases of mobil one and I am going to stick with that for my saws.

Try my new "Bugnutz" self absorbing bar nut dressing and your chain will never loosten again. Until you apply "Bugnot" bar nut relaxer.

Started off as an adhesive specifically engineered to glue a hard-hat to a rafter.

Regardless of how good the oil is, I would worry about dirt, and carbon particles after that many miles. Just me.

You've probably got spyware, Fish. Wander over to www.annoyances.org and ask some questions. Some folks there will tell you how to get rid of it.

But for the amsoil popup to hit me just then? That is just freaky.

I hate infomercials without collegegirls whipping off their shirts.

That is why you still change the filters according to a different schedule. A bypass filter, which can be used in addition to the standard filter, would take away acids, water, and very fine particles that the regular filter is not made to trap.

Not freaky. That's what the spyware is designed to do. It scans the page you are reading for keywords, then pulls a related ad off its server. Customized advertising!

Which means that SOMEBODY is able to watch where you surf.

Online security is a bigger deal than a lot of people realize. Like it or not, if you are online (even on dial-up), you are going to have to learn something about computer security, or be at risk for bad things to happen.

No I was telling the truth.

Well if someone robs me, they will be broke too. Thanks for the heads up
Blue Ridge, that is a lot to think about.

Mobil one

Is this a typo? It's Mobil MX2T now called Racing 2T that is for chainsaws and other 2 strokes.

I have two cases of the mobil one mx2t. I got it for .50 cents a pint since they got in the Racing 2t.

Lakeside, you have my vote!

You have my vote for knowing what you're talking about,
but mostly writing it clearly so I can understand it.

I really think this is a super site of super experienced members.
My thanks to one and all.

Happy new year,
Nevin;)

Blue Ridge, don't beleive everything Fish says. :blob5:

Oh, I don't space. Trust me on that!

But that kind of stuff is pretty routine. Good place to learn about getting rid of (and staying away from) that junk is at:

www.annoyances.org

Just search on "spyware".

I have a 04 Yamaha Rhino 660 cc four stroke. I put Amsoil 4 stroke in it after breakin and the engine runs far quieter and cooler than it ever did before the oil change.
That said I will never run 100:1 in my 2 stroke motors. I run B&S full synthetic at 50:1 in all my 2 strokes. So far without incident. 100:1 is just suicide in my opinion. And I love Amsoil...just not brave, or foolish enough to run that ratio in my equipment, and will not run heavier concentrations than manufacturers specs either.
