Besides if the dealer don't want to give you a deal on there saws then why support them ?

Glad I don't have to put up with all the "evil dealers" you guys complain about.:deadhorse:

You want a deal... then buy your saw the same place you buy your bar oil. I think the same aisle as the Pampers and toasters. Don't forget to say hi to the 85 year old door-greeter on your way in!:sucks:

Not proven... and I did check (again)- the Stihl oil is a virgin base with no other "products" (that variable % in the other MDS) in the packager line.
The Walmart product also uses a virgin base or it would have a differant CAS#. The variable percentages just means the ratio of base oil to additives can change. Most motor oils have MSDS's the read the same way. The variable percentages thing is also done so in case a increase or decrease in treat level is needed a new MSDS does not have to be made.
Its very likely the base oils for Stihl Bar oil and Walmart come form the same refinery as the production points are in the same town. Napthenic plants are not just scattered all over the place.

But let's not open that mess again. Anything anyone needs to read to make their own determination is in in the prior thread(s).

Whether it makes any difference in operation or not, is certainly debatable, and for most, that's all that's really important (the difference, not the debate). My advise to those who read the threads and can't see the forest for the trees, go buy some other bar oils and try them. If they work for you, and it's convenient to get them, go for it.
IMO bar brand has much more influence on bar life than oil.

Stopped by BLowes today for B & C oil. All they had was Husky summer oil and some off brand summer oil. I guess they never heard of low temp oil. Went to the local Stihl dealer and he had a shelf full of low temp for $6.59 + tax per gallon.

Hey, I remember the days my dad bought nondetergent 30wt in quart cans ( real tin cans) for the bar and oil mix. I thought that it was special kind of oil. It was Phillips 66 oil. The old Bradley ran for twenty years on that oil.:hmm3grin2orange:

To be honest with ya I bought a case of bar oil from my Jonsered dealer.
It was the red poulan pro stuff, But they do not have any more.
The last four nope five chains I got from the Stihl Dealer.
What Money I save I buy Huggies for my son. Yep at the same place I bought a new toaster.

I get mine at the local Rural King.

3.59 a gallon. They carry a winter blend as well as a summer blend.. semms to be working so far after six gallons through the 6400

Who's oil is that?

I believe that I'm paying 4.85 for the Husky oil, which I sell for $7. If I can't make $2 a gallon, it's not worth lugging around. Some around me buy the stuff from wal-mart, but they say that they don't have any winter weight oil.

The stuff they sell today is about like winter oil. Really thin. Use it in the aux oiler on the CSM. Too thin IMHO to be used on a saw with a longer bar.

I can see your point about a lot of work without a fitting profit. I've got a couple of gallons of Husky oil that I haven't got to yet.

The Dealer I use sells Shindawa bar oil for $5 a gallon. It's less than five miles from my house,I usually pass by there every morning,so I just buy mine there. It seems to be good stuff. My wife found some at the grocery store for $3 a gallon, but it leaves this brown residue on my guide bar,so I don't use it

We now stock 5 gallon pails of Canola based bar oil (not Stihl), and sell them at cost - $50 for 5 gallons. Pretty much pro sales only as no homeowner wants 5 gallons of anything. .

Have you tried it? Are they liking it?

I've been meaning to try something cheaper than the baileys bio but would have reservations about buying 5 gallons until I knew I liked it okay.

My brother and his crew say Stihl bio sure keeps their bars clean....

Seattle Tree Preservation (I know, an oxymoron, but..). have been using it for a year on all their saws, all crews. No problems... It come out of Canada from Alberta. Matrax? Something like that.

We've been selling Stihl Bio at cost to a few pro accounts also - about $15 for 5 liters. I use that when I'm over or near water.

Interesting. I know Dan Kraus, monster climber that he is. Unless he moved, he works for them.

Do you use the Stihl bio because it comes in smaller jugs, or do you have a personal preference?

I really need to start running more of some sort of bio out of respect for the earth. I cringe when I think about how many gallons of oil I've dumped out through my chain. I think the time has come for me to start owning up to it and switch at least my saws that I run regularly.

Stihl at $15 for 5 liters is a good deal for those guys.

I have used pul-on and Wally's Super Tech bar oil for years. Got along ok. Then one day - un-beknowsnt, (good word huh?), to me - my son filled both my saws with Stihl bar oil. I noticed the difference in short order. Much more oil stickin' to the bar & chain. I been usin ever since:taped:

Until recently I have been buying Stihl for $4.40 a gal. Great price! I was told that a new shipment of oil was comming in and the price was going high, (as I knew it was in other dealers), so for the last 3 months I have been stocking up. Got a supply that will probably take me to the grave:D
