400c = 67cc = major fail vs 562xp 59cc

So one second faster is superior???

We'll see how the 400c compares with a 28" Bar against the 64cc old school Makita
Hardwood only
In a 12 second cut a second is significant. And no flies on the 562. It was really the only good option in the 60cc class before the 400c.
And yes faster is superior... unless you like slower for some reason.

Look mate, I'm not saying the 400 is the end all be all of saws cause it not. But your experience with the one you have, is pretty against what most of us have experienced. I primarily cut hard wood, actually very little soft wood. Idk how long a bar you toss on it, the 400 is the better saw. Yes against the 562xp, it's a faster saw, against the 620p yep its the faster saw. Been there done that, and any performance mods just makes the gap even farther apart. Actually mine darn near keeps up with my logging buddies 572xp With just a bark box on it. Funny part is the last time I was working with him, he kept grabbing the 400 over the 572xp. Lighter and easier handling, even if it was down a little in power by comparison.
I also don't understand you obsession with a 28" bar in hard wood. None of the saws you mentioned will pull that size of a bar worth a crap in any real hardwood.

Cause he saw a You Tube video of an Echoe V MS 400 with 28's on them . I dont trust many You Tube Videos lots of them are not done properly.

only in competition is a second a winner or in accumulation = all day cutting

but if faster is better, to which i agree, then the 400c is a mute point because of the 462

I agree with walker 1 second in a 12 second cut is significant. Do the math of how many hours of cutting are done at work.

because of my age and Lymes = smooth running anti-vibe saw wins it for me

Good late Morning,

i SEE you some laughing at Post #210

if you were to do a 3 Phase time cut with a 044/440 against the 400c

a.) 20" bar = very very close - same or 440 wins

b.) 24" bar = 440 wins by more then a second

c.) 28" bar = 440 wins by two seconds or more

400c = 67cc = major fail vs 562xp 59cc

The Makita is rated at 4.8hp so the 400c should handle it. Makita/Dolmar was only ever a oddity and are non existent now.

Seconds turn into minutes.
The 462 is in the 70cc class and honestly the lightness of the 400C with close to the same power as the 462 makes the 400 more appealing to me.

They shorter the time I have to cut the better,the less vibes the better,the less fumes the better, the less weight the better. The price IDC if it does all the above better.

I am off the same opinion. And the price differance we are talking about is peanuts. Let's face it for most of use $300 isn't going to make or break us. And if your a professional that sort of money is miniscule.

So tell me how the Echoe compares to the Stihls as far as vibes go?
A friend of mine swears bu Husky over Stihl for anti-vibe but idk = never cut with the new husky
i can tell that my Makita is the smoothest, then Stihl and Echo last

Just as I suspected from the Echo. Now compare the weight of the Dolmar to Stihl.. What is your climbing saw and dont tell me Echo?

I'll be the first to say, the only reason I ended up with a 400 is my 562 needed a carb. Well the fuel solenoid, but husqy doesn't sell them separate and the dealer had none in stock and no eta. 4 dealers later I had a 400, as it was the only saw I could get my hands on to finish the job, and I sure as heck wasn't hooking the 390xp around for a second day in 18-24" trees. I would have taken a 462, actually I would have grabbed any husqy or stihl 60-70 cc besides the 362. The 400 is just what a dealer on the other side if the county had on the shelf. I've been impressed with it ever since. Atihl finally has some decent saws again.

Husqy had had the av figured out for years. These newest stihls got it now though. Couldn't run the neighbors 620 for real long before my hands started tingling. Don't have that issue with the 400. Can't comment in the makita.

Well my Dolmar 7900 is very smooth but it still isnt as light as the 500I. I vote the 500I best saw.
