So you take one persons word and not another persons word? Have you looked up the ratings on Stihl oil V others yet? I heard from lots of guys on here that it runs dirty and dont leave much oil on the crank in fact almost dry.

People should do all the research they feel they need to. My research has shown me that Stihl Ultra at 50:1 has shown no higher rate of engine failure than any other oil. I've even talked to multiple well respected porters and while they say they don't prefer Stihl Ultra, they also say people are using it without issues.

Stihl Ultra at 40:1 can leave gummy residue and other buildup because it's not designed to run richer than 50:1, so my research says don't do that.

People are free to do their own research and make their own decisions.

the feedback i was looking for was from those who had a lot of quality saws including ported as well as been using it for years without any problems = scoring

then i did additional research - not extensive, but enough to help me make a decision

i've used Stihl Echo Husqvarna in the past

That screen pic had lived its life on ultra @50to1 with e-free high test. Pretty common to see. Switch to about any fd rated oil and it doesn't happen again.

I agree JASO FD oils are best. That kind of buildup can also occur if the carb is tuned too rich, but some people do have residue issues.

The tune is pretty spot on. (It's a blower) heck even seen it in a few string trimmers ran on moto mix. All residential type use.

Hard to get that blower to run rich aint it? Stihl and the EPA forced mandates took care of any chance of it getting 1 extra drop of fuel from that carb. I have one so!

Yeah, if anything it's on the brink of lean imo, but it isn't mine and ran fine after I burned the screen out.

I don't own one so I can't say for sure, but I've seen dozens of videos posted of those blowers getting clogged spark arrestor screens. Something about that design seems prone to clogging especially when using Stihl Ultra.

It's not just the blowers, seems all their (stihl) homeowner type equipment has this issue. This style of screen seems the worst though.

Depends on the oil. Believe it or not, different oils are... wait for it.... different.

You might run Red Armor at 40:1. But run Stihl Ultra at 50:1.

If he got the warranty extension with Stihl Ultra purchase, run it at 50:1.
Yeah, I bought a six pack of Ultra Oil to get the four year home owner/consumer warranty. I run Amsoil Sabre Oil at 50:1 w/90 octane E-free fuel in all my 2 strokes. I'll break it in with the Ultra Oil them probably switch to Amsoil.

NYH1.

You'll be fine unless you're doing professional work. The amount of oil a typical homeowner puts through a Pro saw has little impact on it.

2 year homeowner warranty with oil purchase.

i was cutn wood and a guy showed up with a 500i with a 25" bar

now i'm cutn with my muff mod 590-20" and timing my cuts(sight n sound)) then watching/timing the 500i

the hockey player in me said, "go over there and challenge this guy saw for saw"

i was about ready to do it but then the 'Good Angel' said: "now David, do not provoke your neighbor to wrath by displacing his $2,000 joy with a $400 echo......"
I feel like we’re being trolled hard!

Yours might not, I don’t have any complaints about mine. Well maybe that I can’t wield one in each hand, ha.
allow me to better explain my comment here

i was expecting more from the 400c being 67cc compared to a 59cc echo timberwolf

am i expecting too much? - maybe

Where is my 57cc UMS262 ?

Ultra Magnum Series - just imagine that saw in your hands = Hey Stihl, you listening.......lol

Send a 261 to the porter of your choice and you'll have a great saw!
