Finally broke down and bought a chiminea about 5 weeks ago at Kohl's for $40, a little cast iron one. Let me tell you, it is doing a nice job of catching water because I've only used it ONCE in that time as it has been doing nothing but raining for the last month here...hopefully, I'll get to use it sometime soon as it was nice to be able to burn something in the "off-season" and it was entertaining to watch. I'm afraid that the darn thing will rot out from all the rain before I can enjoy it! Oh well....

Cool, I've got a sister in suburbia, 20 mile north of me and see's got a ceramic one. That thing will throw a wee bit of heat taking the nip off the air while enjoying cold beverages on her deck in the evening. I've also thought of getting one just for that purpose.

rain sucks

At this rate my wood pile will be dry by 2012!!! I put an old piece of slate over the opening of mine and it does a pretty good job of keeping the rain from pooling in the bottom.
