I am able to get a cord on my long bed I figured it out by the cubic foot!
My box is 5'8" wide by 8' long If I stack it tight and mound it to the top
of the cab it is a cord I have stacked it on the ground and it is 4+4+8.
I am going to put some stake boards to make it easier and safer though.
Then I can stack it 2.8 foot front to back and should be the same my
old truck is 3/4 ton with 1ton springs in the back!

very sweet truck had one back in the 80's with a 428 SCJ..

i had 50 cords to make go away.

i advertised at 220. no takers.

i advertised at 200. 5 cords sold in 2 weeks.

i advertised at 190. sold 45 cords in 2 weeks.

it seems like 190 is a happy price.

last year. 225 was a happy price, but this year lots and lots of construction workers all getting rich selling firewood.

And now, a word from a geezer:

Energy prices WILL go back up again, just like they did during the recession(s) of the 70's-80's. And they will fall again. And rise again...don't give up yet!
It's far from being over!

I've sold more wood this year by this date then any other. I advertise on craigslist and I am one of the higher prices. I have delivered 8 cords a week for the last 3 weeks. There are a lot more people advertising wood this year. I'm re they aren't siting on the supply of seasoned wood that I am. When they run out I'll sell even more. I'm averaging $300 a cord delivered and stacked.

I dont sell wood but this is a year for all idiots with saws. From the storm i had
my dully loaded to the cab with black locus anyway this old worn out s 10
pulls up behind me and a guy gets out who looked to be homeless at best
and starts rattling off about how much money he is going to make selling wood
his buddy does it and makes good money .So im trying to ignore his smell and
bs .He looks at the wood and says( watcha goin to git outa that ash wood
i could cut and haul 3 or four of them a day )I just looked at him and said
i use the wood to cook steaks with i dont sell it.As i walk by i look in the bed
and hes got a homelite that looked like a parts saw and a 1 gallon gas can

And i think to myself another bigtime wood seller.Be done the first day.

your cheating yourself out of ALOT of money, I charge $35 a rick just for stacking alone and 80% of the people are willing to pay it no questions asked

No I'm not, I can be spending a lot more time making a lot more money doing other things in my business that are more enjoyable. I stacked wood for my dad when I was a boy.

I've never even heard of firewood guys stacking wood around here and I've never had a client ask if I stack it. They have asked if my two young sons wanted to make some extra cash.

Hmmmmmmmm was it put in not original was it?

yes I did put it in, took the 390 out... I had a freind with a GT 500 he bought a extra motor from ford ... So he end up smashing the car up and I bought the extra motor cheap... She was a stomp puller... I miss that old truck...

That's the only time I stack the wood. Everything is loaded onto the trailer with a skid steer. When I go to the house I have a dolly that is made to haul 1/8 of a 4x8 stack. I know that 8 trips makes a 1/3 of a cord. Around here you won't sell much wood if you don't stack it.

Nice of you to decide who should and who should not be allowed to put food on their table.

Lighten up man. I think his point is that in times like this we see a lot of folks selling wood that dont know good wood from bad. Like a lot of folks on the boards here, I spend a considerable amount of time harvesting firewood, and go the extra mile to give my customers good seasoned wood at a reasonable price. Along comes the beer money guys who sell wood that has been down a month as SEASONED wood. They make their profits by shorting the customers any chance they can, and often try and pass poor burning wood off as "hardwood".
I dont mind the competition, I just hate that they drive prices down to the point that there is no market for the good product that honest sellers have to offer.

You missed my point all together you would not want this guy around your
kids or house .and im sorry anyone that dosen't even know what kind of
wood they are selling should start a little slower. How would you feel if
you were out of town and your wife bought some wood from a guy and he
told her it was oak and it wound up rotten pine .Anyone who cuts firewood
to sell is working thier azz off just know a little about it first.

Propane was 2.09 its now 1.79 and falling into the winter months WOW.

Wow... I filled up about a month ago and paid $2.79/gal. I called around and everyone was charging that. Now I wish I had waited a bit longer. I was holding out because their "summer fill up special" was $2.89 in August.

Beer money seller here. I sold my 6-8 cords all within 2 weeks and am done. I was charging $60 for 1/3, $100 for 2/3, and $140 for 1 cord. Delivered but not stacked and offload has to be within throwing distance from the truck. That's about the going rate around here. There's a lot of guys selling even cheaper and will stack too, but I don't know how honest their cord is. Customers seemed really happy with my loads.

I suggest when advertising, supposing space is unlimited, such as on Craigslist, that you explain what you are selling, and why its worth it.

A cord is 4x4x8 when split and well stacked. You can buy cheaper wood that is not fully seasoned, then have more difficulty burning it, and paying more for chimney cleaning, while getting less heat for your hard earned money.

Or you can have a legitimate, seasoned cord, not short such a "truckload-cord" of fully seasoned for 3 months.

You will get what you pay for. My cords are SEASONED CORDS.

Every market is different I guess. No one stacks it as part of the service in these parts. It's usually on a dump truck and dumped in a pile. (cut/split) We only sell tree length and people saw and split themselves. It's about half the price of processed.
