got to say the obvious. that sucks. was the jug ruined beyond being able to use?

Cylinder has a bunch of scratches above one transfer port where trash metal passed thru. We arn't going to have 155psi comp anymore but it is serviceable.

The crankcase/fuel tank (all one casting on 100 series) is broken out where the crankshaft and bolt jamed, so it is junk.

ChainsawmanXX put a parts saw in the mail Friday to me for the throttle rod and the clutch cover. Looks like we may use a lot more of it in our next attempt. I hope it has less 'white death' damage than he claimed.

glad to hear on the jug and CS20's parts saw. just watch you don't bust yer knuckles when that allen wrench breaks when torquing it on the rebuild.

The White death on that saw is pretty bad Carl but just on the clutch side on the lower oil tank. The p&C looks pretty good. You'll get some pretty good parts off this saw if you dont need one part of the oil tank and gas tank lol.

Also I got a Xl925 the other day at the scrap yard. Seems to get Good spark. And seems to get good compression passes drop test, but still wont start with gas poured down its throat.

I'd like to spend some time at your scrap yard Jacob. You have gotten some good finds. I need to throw that Mac starter of yours in a box and send it your way. PM me your address, as I think I lost it (again.........sigh). Send that 600D intake/carb setup and Homelite starter handle when you can. Congratulations on the XL925 score. Damn good saws. I'll be there's ignition issues if you have good compression and it won't pop on a prime. You've got two outa the three things it needs to run (fuel/compression/spark)...

Homelite Buz

I'm putting the finishing touches on my Homelite Buz chainsaw that I acquired earlier in the year. I've had it running already, just trying to make it look nice since I doubt if it'll see much action. Pics as soon as I get it finished.

My Dad is to old to run his saws anymore and wants to sell them...an early 80's super XL in good cond., 24"bar.... and new in box, never run XL 16"bar, he bought in early 90's looks to be 45cc

He has a McCulloch as well, but posted it in McCulloch thread.

What the cc's on the XL super, dosent say anywere on it?

Thanks

I think that one's about 58cc.

The other day our local stump grinding guy came to our house to grind out seven stumps from the tree loss from the storm we had a couple of weeks ago and prior to him coming over I was a at a tree job that he was at and he was griping thestarter cord broke on his Husqvarna 281XP.

He has several older saws that he know I want and he showed them to me but seemd a little stand offish on letting me get soem from he. So I pressed no more on that issue.I mentioned I could fix his starter cord and he left the saw with me to fix when he ground the stumps out. Guy is 76 years old and still grinding stumps with the grinder he bought 30 years ago:rock:

So I fixed the recoil rope and tried to start the saw and found both H and L screws backed out completely and were only held in the sleeve. I took the saw over to him and explained it needs carb work as after putting the H/L screws back in place I could get it to idle but nothing else. He said he would take care of the rest and gave me these saws.

THe super EZ feels very good on compression but has no clutch. THe XL-113 has no compression but I have one with good compression that needs parts so hopefully I can make a runner out of the 113. Not a bad haul for 10 minutes of starter repair and a $1 worth of rope.View attachment 190400View attachment 190401

Where on earth in Iowa could something like this be happening:msp_scared:

In the nicer trailer park just outside of Coralville. Had the ironing board on the curb for someone to take for free.

I have an idea and I hope it is correct, on the individual.

Thanks, thats what I wanted to know...:msp_thumbup:

Oh, what about a price on the XL super auto ?...$95?

Sometimes they go for that much, sometimes not, just depending on the condition and how bad people are wanting one of them. You might check out ebay and see what they're going for. I think they may bring a little more closer to Fall.

It was right at the end of my finger tips to say that this sounds like something that could only happen in a trailer park but did not want to offend.

Somethings just do not make sense as to why or how. Hope you get it all sorted out.
