I'd guess an obstruction still in the carb. or metering lever height not right or kit not installed right (I've done that a time or two).
I'm not familiar with that particular saw. Sorry. Just throwing ideas at you.

Yeah it's not pulling a drop of gas, pulled the line and it was bone dry

I have two new entries into the 6 cube club. A 1020 and a 1050. Thanks much to Eccentric for some tips on the carbs. I like working on these. Very easy!!! Both had dissolved fuel lines, and hard diaphragms in the carb. A little tygon, a new tank gasket, and a carb kit and they were off to the races!!

I can't say enough about these saws. They obviosly lived hard lives, yet have plenty of compression, and no broken parts.

The handle is a little bent on the 1020. I will need to remove and work on it in the vise.

Here is a short vid. The first pull on the 1050 and the handle snapped right out of my hand, lol.

Alright, got the carb kit in the C-52 backed the adjustment screws out 1 turn each, but it will only run for about 10 seconds with a shot of gas down the carb :msp_confused:

I didn't read the rest of the thread...did you put new fuel lines and filter on the saw? You can also try going a little richer or leaner about 1/4 turn at a time. Sometimes that works for me. You might also take the fuel line off to make sure fuel is getting to the carb.

The vids can never convey how loud and powerful these saws are. It's too bad, because it is impressive (and painful for those without ear protection).

I love the sound of these saws. Very easy to hear the 4 stroking. Those Tillotson carbs are really nice. Only issue is the idle circuit is a lot more fussy than on a modern carb. I think it is because the throat is so large, and the metering diaphragm is huge. Either the chain moves sometimes, or it stalls sometimes. can't get it perfect on either saw.

A word to the wise...that Dupli-Color is not fuel resistant unless you put a coat of clear over it. I used PPG Quick Clear with hardener on mine, of course I learned the hard way. If this saw isn't gonna be fueled up and used then it won't matter.

A easy tip I learned was using Minwax Polyurethane in a spray can. Get the high gloss one. Apply 10 minutes after the last coat of Dupli-Color and then let dry. Recoat the next day. Works great, and with this product no mixing of hardeners are necessary. I learned this tip from Buzz Sawyer, who does incredible chainsaw restorations.

You are missing something in the carb. Make sure that the fuel screen is not clogged. Make sure the metering lever is not too low. You can find assembly directions pretty easily online, so you can make sure you didn't mess something up. Remove the two adjust screws and spray some carb cleaner down the holes to clean the jets. Best of luck!!!

org ez

just took apart my org es and it had a HL27a carb not a HL1A. (i do have an hl1a) the hl1a doesn't have high and low adj screws as the hl27a does. what did the hl27a come off of, or was it a replacement? big main bearing was a little rough (have one coming) everything else looks good.

750 airfilter

I just got my 750 running but need an air filter Does anybody have, or know where I can get one?

dont see those come up to often.

here is what I do to search for things on ebay. (tips and tricks)

first I right click on my desktop back ground and create a new folder and name it ebay.

then I go to ebay and search for a particular saw . You can add filter in your search line to narrow the results if needed.

when your results are displayed then left click the little ebay sign in your address bar and hold down and drag that link
to your ebay folder. If you dont now how to drag then copy paste will work too.

I have up to 50 hotlinks saved for my popular searches and check them acording to need or current cash flow :D

you can save these searches in your ebay home page too but with
one click to open the folder the next click puts me right to the search and with another click you
can purchase the item just listed with a buyitnow before someone else does.

Yeah..................I was wondering why your HL1A didn't have H and L adjustment screws when my HL1A (on my Original EZ) does....:dizzy:

Don't feel bad. I've made far far more bonehead mistakes than that. Some are immortalized in the AS archives. Luckily, they're not as easy to search for anymore....:jester:

LMAO!!! @ Homelite carbs!

Some had the needles on the side, some on the back, they often left the holes plugged on the ones not used, complete with the H&L marks in place.

That's not exclusively a Homelite trait. In this case it was a Tillotson trait. They used 'generic' carb body castings, and drilled whichever needle bores the customer (Homelite, Mac, etc) specified. On many Tilotson HL equipped McCullochs, the carb body castings have blank holes in the rear possitons as well as the drilled left-side needle bores. It's a testiment to the versatility of the Tillotson HL design.

Sadly, the 909D was moved on today to a guy who needed it to complete the series. At least I still have the Zip.

I was looking forward to making that saw a runner but I think I made him very happy so it is all good.
