I did something like that with a 1130G.

I remember the vicarious feelings of loss from that one Randy. Thankfully I have my own 1130G project now. LMK if you ever contemplate a similar decission with your 900G...

One of my all time favorite whiskey's is maker's mark. Speaking of homelite's Aaron. The 925 run's, and good you just have to keep it running, no idle. Doesn't studder or miss or anything. Just won't idle. Had the saw shop do the carb kit, fuel line's and filter, and plug about two year's ago for Frank my father in law. It did sit awhile. I draine'd all old gas put in fresh. Fire'd right up. I may be overlooking something simple. Oh well.

We'll get it...

If it sat for two years with our crap gas in it...........................................might be time for a carb kit again. I have a stack of 'em...:D

Yep, think your'e right. When you get time we will get together, and you can walk me through a carb kit! Gonna ask Frank about that 2 man bar for you. In the mean time you can run it.

Can someone explain the difference in the bar mount pattern between my sxl-925 and my S1130g? According to acres theyre both 9.5mm and the only difference i can see is the size of the oil hole.

The slot is indeed .375"/9.5mm for both mounts. The oiler hole is spaced farther away from the slot centerline, and the width of the bar (tail profile) is much greater with the large frame (1130G, 1050, C-Series, etc) bars. If you run an XL-mount bar on a large frame saw, the chain rivets will dig into the bar pad on the clutch cover/bar clamp and/or drivecase. The oiler slot on the saw case will also be uncovered, letting bar oil run off instead of oiling the chain. There's slight variations in the adjuster hole placement/size/shape as well. To sum it up, you can make an XL-mount bar fit (and tension) on a large frame saw, but the tail profile of the bar will be wrong for the saw. It's just not the right thing to do.

Thanks Eccentric, i figured you would chime in with a answer. I dont plan on swapping the bars but was just curious about the difference. Just watched a youtube video from the chainsaw guy on a homie 750 and he stated that a husqvarna bar could be modded to fit those larger old homelites, anybody done this?

Are you sure he wasn't refering to modding a large Husky (9mm slot) bar to work on an XL-750? The Homelite XL-750 uses the same bar as your SXL-925.

I have seen where guys have taken large Stihl mount bars and made spacer plates to use them on the large frame Homelite and McCulloch saws. Those are 14mm at the slot IIRC. You'd have to space up from the 9.5MM studs on the Homelite. It can be done...

It was the 750 not the xl-750. I cant copy the link to the video on my Ipad but its a 4:15 minute video about the 750 and he mentions it at 1:20. But what you said makes more sense and i will have to buy a bar either way, might as well buy one that doesnt need modding.

The 450/550/650/750 Homelites use the XL-mount bar as well...........................not the large frame Homelite bar.

Seen this on Ebay and thought it was something worth sharing, never seen a JD branded Homelite SXL-AO

Here is a little information the seller includes
This listing is for an extremely rare John Deere 350CS chain saw. This is actually a Homelite SXL-AO dressed in yellow. This saw was manufactured in very limited numbers for John Deere, who was the parent company of Homelite at the time. These were made in the Homelite Canadian plant in 1996. Very few of these made it into the US. Those that did were mainly in the north east and north west US. Unlike any of the other John Deere saws you may have seen, these Homelite SXL-AO's were powder coated yellow from the factory and not re-sprayed yellow over an existing color like so many others, especially the Echos that are orange under the yellow paint.
