It's been a while since I've pulled a C/XP series tank. IIRC, there's three or four that go in from the front, and two from the sides. I'll go out in the shop to check a saw once it cools down here.

The oil tank pickup is probably bunged up with chips and mung. Every one of these saws that I've dealt with has had that problem.

And corrected, I hope. Or do I have a project?

It was corrected back in 2007. You'll know if it happens again. Seems to be a design weakness. Any crap that gets in the tank settles right on the pickup. Plunger will get REAL easy to push in, as the pump won't scavange oil. I think I just fished the oil pickup tube out through the filler hole (the line is to the right of the filler hole when looking into it from the clutch side of the saw). May have opened up the tank on that one however. I had to rehab both C-5's. My memory get's foggy that far back. Heck..................it get's foggy when I go back more than a few days.....:dizzy:

Didja see this pic in the "Crummies" thread?

There's your C-5 on the left. Fresh from a cutting session. Has the 'naked' starter on it, as I was preserving the nice one that I put back on before I sent the saw to you. My C-5 (in my avatar) is to the right of it. It's wearing the bar/chain that you have now. That NOS Oregon 21" hardnose is now on my C-5. Switched 'em not long after the pic was taken. I'd gotten that 2nd C-5 offa ebay and brought it back to life shortly before that cutting trip. The truck they're sitting in is my sadly ailing F250 diesel. The Scouts are to the right.

Thanks, will spend some more time peering in the oil filler hole and fishin' with a wire. It pumps a splut of oil/air with each push. And, why would an oiler wear out!!!!

Carl.

XL-101 air box lid got its last coat of clear and turned a frosty white over the medium blue. Yikes!!

Temp. was 70 with high humidity and moisture condensed on the paint. Took over an hour to return to normal med. blue.

Good luck with it Carl. The line enters the tank low and to the right. Runs all the way to the far right/bottom corner of the tank, and has a filter on the end. Gunk seems to congregate there...

Anybody know where i can get a clutch side crank seal for a 750? I think the part number is 12306. Theres a couple of flywheel side seals on ebay (part # 53444) and i plan to replace both while its apart but the only one leaking the the clutch side. Go figure. Any ideas?

Do not pry on the 'S' clutch. They are cast iron and will break before bending. More than likely the drum is worn oversize or is too big to begin with.

Whatever you do, do not run the thing without the drum and just the 'S' casting in place. One or both of the legs may break off and become a dangerous missle.

This makes since, I think it has the wrong chain on it, could this make it seem like the clutch is slipping? I will have to dig it out of the pile but im sure it had regular 3/8 on it when it should of had the lo pro 3/8. The clutch and drum look totally fine just didn't notice the chain problem right away.

I think seals and bearings still have a standard number on them and should be available where they sell bearings and seals. It's not just a Homelite number, the number should be on the seal if it isn't too mangled up.

I'll check tomorrow to get a number and see what i can come up with. I read on another forum that they weren't available through a seal/bearing shop but i guess its worth a try.

I don't have any personal experience with this, someone just told me a while ago that they were standard numbers and all I needed was the number on the seal. I only know of one place, if it's still in business, that sells bearings and seals and it's about 40 miles from me.

I got Ebay XL-101 #2 running tonight. We may need to buy another 'D' handle. Pulled the knot off the end of the rope.:msp_unsure:

Waiting for Ebay XL-101 #3 to arrive by FedX. Have a bid on another one.:msp_ohmy:

The C5 oiler works good now after cleaning both check valves. The fuel tank is apart and awaits cleaning up with 'THE DIP' (chemical carb. cleaner). It takes everything off.

Lazer eye treatment in the morning on my implants. They fogged up. Hope I can see well enough in the afternoon to get something done.

Homelite Super 2100

Hey Terry congrats bro!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nice saw.

Your PM box is full. I sent a message to your FB saucy account.

Actually I have a serious question for the Homelite board. My 450 started smoking real bad when I started it. I checked the gas and oil, and both look about the same. How hard is it to fix the tank? Chainsawr has a good used one for $40.

I saw that on the 'bay. A real 'Whatsit'.

Fire it up and see what it does. Could be for blowing air into something.

Where does that yellow tubing come from/go to?

Ha! Insect fogger.
